boresight info

looking for some information on a suggested bore sight for multi purpose rifles and shotguns. I have not bore sighted in the past but have a b square mount and scope coming for a 870 and am thinking about a bore sight to save time. Anyone use the laser bore sights? How far out do they project to. How far our do they need to project to? Cabelas has there all in one for rifles and shotguns for about 65.00. Anyone ever use this?

I have the SiteLite SL-100 red laser boresighter system. It does .22 up to .50cal rifle, 4" and longer barrel pistols and 20ga and 12ga shotguns.

I really like having it. Gets me very close when boresighting guns that I cannot look down the barrel at the target.

The SiteLite will project a red dot at 25 feet that will be about 3/8" diameter. It will project much farther than that but the red dot grows too large. It can be effectively used out to about 50 yards.

It comes with the chart cards to adjust scope to 100, 200 and 300 yard boresight at a 25 feet distance.

It also comes with the attachment to level the crosshairs of the scope. Comes in a nice hardcase with all the adapters and o-rings for different calibers. Its uses annodized aluminum shank and laser body, not plastic. Uses 3 LR44 watch batteries.

You can find them priced from $70 to $150 depending on where you shop.

SiteLite also makes a better one with green laser and will be effective at greater distances.
