Secure shotgun/handy access

I'd like to keep my Rem. 870 somewhere in my bedroom, securely locked yet with some type of quick release system that'd make it easy to get to when TSHTF. Any suggestions?

I keep telling myself I'm going to get one of THESE, one of these days I'll get around to it.

I don't know if that's exactly what your looking for, but it's close.

I believe those only work with the old grooved/police style forearm. The new express models have a 'tail' that needs to be removed to allow the lock to fit between the receiver and the forearm.

Here's a good one.....

Life Jacket Gun Locks (LifeJacket)

Only thing is it's a key lock......I know I saw another one that had a cypher-type lock. This flu is affecting my memory and my Google-Fu.....

I use a V-Line long gun vault for my Benelli M1S90, it has a simplex push button lock and keeps the gun secure and has room for extra ammo etc. even a handgun. I've got the same make for my nightstand pistol and have made the combinations the same.

My coach gun (12ga) sits just inside the closed...inside an open safe...ready to welcome the 'gang'...

What does the Galls lock do? How is it released? There is basically no info about it on their website. It's got a handcuff key override, but what does that override?? Do you mount a hidden switch or something?

Yes, they're made for mounting in vehicles, so the lock is normally released by a 12v power source. Some use a hidden switch, some just have a 15 sec delay. Used in a home you could either use a wall wart power supply or a battery/trickle charger.

Chuck- nice setup.

Gunvault made one for wall-mounting a shotgun. I'm not sure if it is still made, but it sounds like what you are looking for.
