Interesting project but - seems rather a waste of effort to go this far on the main platform, other than a challenge to make best possible of it.

For this AR-15 Sniper Rifle, Jeff,s idea is to make a rifle for sniper in combat situation. So you do not see extremely long barrel with bipods. And the rear stock is still collapsible like M4A1 and XM177 to improve mobility. Whole gun is based on a XM177E2 model gun kit from Marushin. In appearance, several modifications are made. The eye-catching handguard is one of them and such piece of metal handguard is US made. Barrel is fully custom made by Jeff and the length is set similar to M16A2 barrel. Handle and rear sight is removed and replaced by a scope mount rail. With similar effect to M4A1, scope can be mounted lower and it is easier to aim without cheekpiece. To install the scope mount rail, T shape cocking handle is filed for a better fit. And the scope fitted is 4 X 20mm cross hair scope. The grip is also replaced by the real M16A2 grip.

I don't really see the "Sniper" aspect of it, to me it just looks like a nicely tuned AR15 that's been setup for precision shooting while maintaing its compactness.

It could be considered a battle rifled tuned for longer range shooting. I like it, I just don't agree it's a "Sniper" rifle.

I'd call it a "Zombie Popper".

But I bet it works just fine for its owner and that's what is important.

Looks like maybe an "Urban Sniper"

whatever that is.
Looks like it would be downright awesome for plinking Pepsi cans off the top rail of the fencepost though.

Euc...

It an Airsoft rifle.

Thats all they are allowed to own in Japan. Since they dont class as weapons, scale models with all the bells and whistles are quite popular over there. They have shooting contests with them and "battles".

If you go to the site, its obvious that they only know about real guns from what they read about them. Most folks have never seen a gun except by the police, but alot of them arent even armed in many places.

The guy that built the gun is a "custom" airsoft gunsmith. Had he any real experience with guns, he would have known not to engrave
"smg" over the trigger as SMG denotes "sub machine gun" which shoots a pistol caliber.

Even so...its a great peice of work....

The .300 mag fills the bill quite nicely.

Even so... the 308 is generally only about 50 FPS less than an ought six.
