necessary parts etc. for AR-15
Well, I finally succumbed to Black Rifle Disease. I've got a Rock River Arms Elite on the way. This is my first Black Rifle; actually it's my first rifle. What is necessary to keep the AR running, besides a cleaning kit?

Bushmaster sells some nice spare parts and "survival" kits already packaged and ready to go that would be nice to have too... check out their site. I am eventually going to set mine up with the gear I'd need to head to the hills with it.
I'll try to remember to post the links to what I'm interested in later.

I'd use a Boresnake, not a cleaning rod. The rods can scratch the rifling and eventually degrade accuracy. Boresnake, RemOil, AR cleaning brush or old toothbrush, Q-Tips. Thats all I need for my GLOCK.

a chamber brush to clean the locking lug area, other than that , just ammo. i use a alum. cleaning rod so no scratch concerns. I don't think the bore snake cleaners work well enough. Don't use the military cleaning rod set though , its steel for better durability.
I have had my AR for over a year, put about 1500 rnds thru it without replacing any parts. (that went bad anyways) lots of accesories were added though ![]() |

Bushnell makes an electronic sight, with variable recticles for about between 75 and 100 bucks..............would work VERY WELL on the top of that fine rifle. http://www.eabco.com/Bush04.htm ........... orrrrrrrrrrrrr a nice ACOG system would be good too.. tho they're running about 850.00... 525.00 used (we got a couple) http://elitetacticalsources.com/Trijicon_Scopes.htm

More mags and plenty of ammo.
You might consider a sling too. I prefer the single point attatchment slings.
