I don't carry a long gun, but if I did it'd probably be my Beretta CX4 Storm.

When I was driving my Full Sized Bronco around as a daily driver, I had my little roof rack in there... in it was strapped two rifles.
A cheap .22 Remington Semi and my chopped and channeled Marlin 336. Never came across any situation that would ever have required more. Including wounded Elk up in the high country that had only partially survived a hit from a motor vehicle.

My truck gun is my lever action model 94 in 45 Colt. It's light and packs 10 rounds in the tube.It is also cheap so I don't worry about a few scrathes.

Lately, I have been keeping a standard Remington 870 Home Defense 12ga in my truck. I also carry a Glenfield 30 (marlin336) that is equipped with a Nikon 2x LER scope mounted on a XS Scout mount, and backed up by XS Ghost Ring sights.
