Want optics on an AK?

I just found this. Looks like it could be a much easier way to mount the kind of optic you want on your AK. Just letting you know.

Samson Mfg: AR-15, AK-47, Sig 556 Rails and Accessories: Samson AK-47 Rear Sight Rail

Looks cool...but I dunno for $125. It's actually a better mounting position than the over the barrel/gas tube mounts that I always think are way too far forward. Personally I don't want or need any optics on my AK now or in the future. Mine works real good with open sights.

Isn't that contradictory ? considering the accuracy of an AK ?

I dont want to sacrifice my iron sights. They are my backup, if my optics do fail.

I the side rail mount. With my Saiga... My other other option is to get a Beryl type mount, for $275, and use a picatinny rear aperture. For what I want my rifle, to do.

You can also try the Ulti-mak scout mount. You would be limited to red dot, and scout type scopes. Its also alittle over $100. I used one with my old Romanian AK. I loved it, with a red dot!

Not bad. According to that write-up, the channel in the middle functions as an under-optic BUIS. Definitely better than the gas tube mounts, but ouch on the price.

Is this hard to understand? Then why does it get unintelligible to some people when 5 little words are changed?

Accuracy is determined by:
1) tolerances of the builder/parts quality
2) ammunition
3) sights

AK and AR TDPs both list 2MOA standards, as I recall. We've pimped the AR into a sub-MOA platform; the same can be done to an AK for the same $$(maybe a bit less, depending on the base gun).

onetuza, That side mount looks nice! I might try it... When I get my S308 back from getting a ceramic finish. Its Just a little more than the UTG mount I use now.

My dad calls it "polishing a turd", also. I then spank him shooting 500y plates.
I get +/- 2in grps, with my Saiga. Ive only tried Federal ammo (got a deal). Thats good enough. Its not a precision rifle. Its a rock solid battle rifle!

I'm confused. That's not a side mount, it replaces the rear sights. Did you view the product review link?

I was the one who was confused. Now, after reading (not skimming) the review. I understand
