Remingtom Model 887 Polymer Shotgun

Hello,

I just saw one of these at my local gun shop today and was curious if anyone owns one of these yet? They look soooooo sweet! The polymer barrel lining threw me off, I don't think I have ever seen a shotgun with one. It must have cut down about 2 pounds from this gun.

If you are in the market for a shotty, I would take a look. This was going for around 400.00.

Model 887™ Nitro Magnum SPS

i noticed that when researching which 870 i wanted to buy for HD. i wouldnt really consider it for HD (even if they made a shorter setup) but i think it looks sweet.

And why is that? It's pretty tough to beat a shotty a close range.

Hmm....that looks familiar....

- Weather-impermeable coating of receiver and barrel
- Innovative recoil management in the buttstock
- Chambered for 3 1/2"
- Sling swivel studs built in
- Rugged synthetic stock and fore-end with specially-contoured grip panels
- Light steel receiver with synthetic overmolded surface
- Twin steel action bars
- $400-$500+

No tactical model like the Benelli, yet, but that's probably just a matter of time. Other than that...

It sounds like Remington is trying to compete with Benelli's Nova pump shotgun. I certainly hope Remington does come out with a tactical or home defense 887. I love my Benelli Super Nova, but I might give the 887 a look see.

Yep. Looks like the 887 is positioned right between the Nova Pump and Supernova, pricewise and weight (about 7.4 lbs). It looks like the buttstock is separate from the receiver. I'll be curious to see if it accepts existing 870 aftermarket gear.

I've got one on the way, it should be arriving any time.
When I get it i"ll post some pics.

Two main detractions from it that I dont like.

The first is it comes with a 28 inch barrel.
This seems a bit long to me. Im used to a 26" which for turkey and duck hunting is a lot better to handle in close quarter, like thickets or timber.

Second, right now it comes in ether black or Marshland cammo. It would see to me that one of the Realtree Camo's would be a better choice for general purpose stuff. The Marshland pretty much limits it to duck hunting. Its good camo if you hunt from the weeds and catails and we do, but it sticks out in the turkey woods.
They say the Realtree version will be out next year.

I never did see a final retail price on it, I'm geting mine for 300.

I've got two Nova shotguns, I'll do a comparison when it gets here.
