Question BIG speed safety.....why??

why do so many people switch to the BIG speed safety button?

is it that much better than stock? is it because its cheap? i know its super cheap, but is it effective?

Because it's easier to find and manipulate under stressful conditions.

Is it that much better than stock? In a word, YES! The fact that it's minimal cost is just a bonus. As far as it's effectiveness, I'll let you be the judge of that, but I think you can determine how I feel by my previous answers.

FWIW: If I shot a shotgun right handed, and I very seldom do, I would have them on every 870 I own. As it is, I have mine converted to a left handed safety, and it's a bigger head than "stock" but not rounded like the Vang safety.

Mixing aftermarket parts from different sources is ALWAYS done at your peril. Motorcycles, cars, trucks, firearms; installation of stuff can cause incompatibility issues.

I prefer the Vang Comp extended safety. It makes ambidextrous operation much more positive, and requires less of a reach. It also makes operation with gloves much more positive, and gloves are REALLY important if using a shotgun for breaching doors.

Knoxx stocks do not impress me; my shotguns wear normal furniture on the butt end.

My knoxx stock impress's my wife and kids. That's why I got it. Good chance that in a SHTF situ...There's a chance that they'll be manning the safe room shotty. I know i can handle it, but I want the other members of the family to be able to use it efficiently/accurately. No apprehension at all with the Knoxx on it. Unfortunately, I have to deal with the stock safety and can't use the BIG. But if you train with the stock safety, you get over that hurdle.
