I think the jelly acted as a lubricant, its all good. my shoulder feels better and has less bruising than 100 something 12 gauge rounds would usually cause, so thats nice, even though I'm not particularly recoil sensitive.

Do you want the extra parts I took out? I got a box of them. I figured they were not needed.

I know this can't be true. I don't believe you even got close to a Mossberg let alone touched one. You must have looked at the new 11-87 and just got confused.

I have no issue with Mossberg, but I do have issues with people trying to compare a 500 to an 870. Its like comparing a Kia to a Toyota or Honda. Both might get you to the grocery store, but one will have some resale left after you have got your fill.

It runs just fine without them, besides, you are probably getting forgetful in your old age, and its actually lawnmower pieces.

I personally think my Mossberg 500 persuader and 870 HD express are about on par with each other, but that is an issue for another thread.

Now for the downsides of the 930 SPX I am discovering on my quest to make it the most amazing zombie boomstick ever.

Mossberg didn't put anything on the front end of the weapon to attach a sling to, and honestly I don't trust the little hole drilled into the bottom of the stock to put a sling swivel through. So I think I am going to find a piece that goes between the stock and receiver, and put on a one point sling. Apparently the 590 pieces work for that application.

My other complaint is that it seems hard to find a side saddle for the weapon, and looking at it, the rear sight might get in the way if I do find one. Right now I just have an elastic shell holder on the stock, which isn't ideal. But if I manage to blaze through 10 rounds of buckshot and 2 slugs (I know it holds 7+1, but I like to keep HD weapons "cruiser ready"), I have a bigger zombie problem than I imagined, and will be switching to my M4 ASAP.

Agreed.

While the slightly revised 590 (civilian) /590A1 (military) is akin to the 870 'Police'.
The 500 and 590 series (same receiver and internals as a 500) have been for very many if not most owners as solidly dependable as the sun rising and setting for decades and generations.

The Magnificent Mossberg

It's Ford vs. Chevy.

Kia = H&P Pardner Pump

Thanks for the link Janq. There was a 590 in our armory which was beat to heck, had no parkerizing left on it at all, certainly wasn't gonna win any beauty contests. But it went bang every time.

Weren't you at one point on a quest for a SXP, did you ever wind up getting one?
