Does anyone think the flash hider looks fubar?

Maybe the whole thing got run over or...dropped off something rather high? Wouldn't be the first time.

It looks to me like he has electrical tape wrapped around it, why he would do that, I have no idea.

Sorry Dan, the one mounted on the M249 is also an ACOG, easiest way you can tell because of the fiber optic on top. That little clear looking curved line.

The Army still uses Aimpoint M68's as far as I know, but they aren't pictured here.

Recoil wouldn't do that unless the weapon was previously damaged.

Looks like this was captured mid burst (based on the absence of activity at the muzzle, I'm going to guess the weapon is currently in the feeding cycle)

The barrel looks normal to me.

Plastic dust cap is my assumption, but I would normally expect them to fly off (never fired through one myself). It might even be melting considering he is shooting often enough to have two spent casings in mid-air at the same time (would not be fun to clean later).

That's exactly what I was wondering...

Yeah, the rail is screwed up, though...

And the tape over the flash hider could be to keep out dust & dirt; just fire through it, it'll clear itself off eventually...

My unit doesn't, the Army might. I do bring my own with me to theater though. Daddy warcrimes, that probably is a black plastic muzzle cover, not tape like I thought, they don't always fly off when you shoot through them.

If you have to bring your personal equipment to battle then there is something seriously wrong with big "o"s budget.
