Appendix IWB Kydex Holster for a S&W 908

After proving my newest acquisition, the Smith & Wesson 908, was reliable and accurate enough and then carrying it a couple weeks concealed & tucked I decided it needed it's own holster. Since it fits very well in the Crossbreed SuperTuck that I use tucked at the 4 o'clock position I don't need that kind of holster. For winter carry, when I can wear sweaters or fleeces I like to carry at the appendix location. It enables a quick draw and because it's directly in front of me I have more control over exposure. I've also found that it isn't nearly as uncomfortable as most people would think.

I've made similar holsters before, but at times had problems with clip breakage. So this time I decided to go with the slightly thicker kydex I had (.080 gauge vs. .060 gauge). It adds minimal thickness, but also adds much more strength to the J-clips. The design is a single piece folded scabbard integrating the J-clips secured using one bolt/nut. The .080 gauge kydex is too thick for me to use the rivets I have, but I actually like the idea of being able to take it completely apart in case it ever needs to be totally cleaned. Here are pictures.

It fits tightly, but draws quickly and smoothly. This holster holds the gun much like a traditional leather holster does where it feels like it grips the gun all over. Most kydex holsters rely on clicking points (typically the trigger guard) which cause the gun to click or snap in and out of the holster. It all comes down to personal preference, but I'm happy with it's retention. I put together a short video showing this holster & gun concealed.

Looking for opinions on overnight storage

At the present, at night, I store my XDm up in my closet that is across the room from my bed. Not locked up but there is no way for my 4 year old girl, my oldest, to get it. I have been thinking about getting a lockbox to mount behind my bedside dresser. Something like a mini GunVault. Although they don’t make one for my XDm, I have recently been considering mounting a holster with retention like the Blackhawk Level 3 Serpa. While not locked in a vault, it will be hard for a young one to figure out. Keep in mind the XDm will only be stored there over night, what do you all think of this mode of storage? While some will say safe enough and others will condemn the mode of storage, I’d like to hear from all sides.

Hey Everyone, I want to get a leather holster for a Ruger Mark III target. I would like a OWB belt holster with thumb break. I don't think the Triple K holster will work because it has the target sights (taller). Does anyone know where I could get a holster like this. I would be happy to have one made, but I don't know who to go to. $60ish would be the ideal price, but I must stay less than $100. Thanks for your help.

I ordered a crossbreed supertuck on the 7th (I though it was last Wednesday, but when you get older, the time just slips away from you!). I have gotten the PayPal acknowledgement that they sent the money, but I haven't heard a word form the the vendor - no acknowledgement of the order or anything. Is this normal for this supplier?

I know the website states to allow 2-3 weeks for delivery, but after hearing everyone saying that they got theirs in 9 days, I'm beginning to wonder if something happened to my order.

Shoulder Holster Help Wanted

So...

Way back when I was still in Iraq, I had ordered through my then gun shop, a shoulder holster for my G21sf. I hadn't used it due to my status (OH tax residency, but NC barracks) being difficult to pinpoint, and state laws requiring in-state living, etc. I was getting out soon, and I didn't want to go through the lengthy motions of CC licensing in NC only to go home to OH (now KY) and so on...

Skip ahead a few months, and I have CCDW paperwork processing in KY. I also have cats. Lots of cats. Now I LOVE my cats, and they are like children to my wife and I, but they are little predators. They chewed through the straps  (soft, like deer hide), but left the holster and mag pouches relatively untouched. The holster was about $275 or so and made in South Africa. I can get the maker and possibly pics later.

Question is, can I just use Galco straps in the meantime while I track down the manufacturer? I know that Galco makes their shoulder holsters available "a la carte" in separate pieces. Does anyone have any better ideas?

Please help, I've NEVER worn the thing, and would like the opportunity to do so.

Oh, and please restrain any remarks about my "kids" to the gentle variety. I REALLY hate cruelty to animals...:nono::mad::comeandgetsome:

Crossbreed MicroClip vs. MiniTuck

I originally bought a CB MicroClip for my Kahr MK9. This was my first IWB holster and found it to be extremely comfortable. Since the only has a single clip, I found that the weight of the MK9 was more comfortable in the 4 o'clock position for me. It was stable in other positions, but it didn't feel as comfortable.

To make a long story short, I wanted a Crimson Trace LaserGrip for my MK9, but I found out it doesn't fit the original early version that I have. So I ended up buying a Kahr PM9 and a Crimson Trace LaserGuard. Since CB doesn't make a MicroClip that fits the PM9 with LaserGuard, I ended up with the CB MiniTuck. I found it to be even more comfortable than the Microclip and almost exactly the same size. I was also able to fine tune the position since it has a little more leather and a second clip. The MicroClip is definitely better for lighter polymer guns (like the Kahr PM9) rather than a heavier gun like the MK9.

Some comparison pictures are attached. Crossbreed also has excellent service. I received both orders within a week of ordering. My only gripe is that I didn't buy the MiniTuck earlier. My MK9 also fits in it, so my MicroClip may go into my bin of holsters unless I can sell it. :)

I have a M&P 40 compact and just got the Ankle Lite today. I can't even get the gun to seat all the way in. Has anyone else run into this problem?

Galco said I should send it back and they will break it in for me. I am just wondering if this is normal or should I send it back?

Damn, I really was looking forward to using this today.

I purchased this bag to replace my manly diaper bag. My daughter is now almost three and I no longer need all the diapers, wipes, change of clothes for her, etc that I used to carry when we went places.

I now have a smaller bag to carry my essentials. Spare mag, flashlight, multi tool, Tylenol, sanitary wipes & the Blackberry.

This leaves room for all the extras we take for my daughter when we go out for a day trip like maybe a sweater, camera, snack, etc.

I heard complaints that the opening was too small for a full sized handgun and an easy draw. As you can see from the picture I have my Subcompact with the full size extended magazine in it and there is plenty of room for the draw.

Very well made with double stiching and is very ergonomic. So far I would highly recommend it.

Almost forgot. $92.42 from Optic Planet. That includes the universal holster for it and shipping. It took less than 6 days for me to get it once I placed my order online.
