What optic to put on a M1A Scout Squad?

I have an M1A Scout Squad rifle with Mossy Oak camo stock and the forward mounted picatinny rail mounted just ahead of the action. What kind of optic to you all recommend for this rifle? It has an 18 inch barrel. If any of you all have this rifle, what optic did you choose and why?

Spikes Tactical has some new billet lowers that they just got BATFE approval on. You can order complete rifles or you can mix-n-match your parts. I think you can get a fully pimped out rifle (gas impingement) with a billet lower for that price and have a much nicer rifle than a Bushy. Spikes Tactical makes great stuff and has the best customer service in the industry. Tom the CEO will answer any of your questions if you call. I wouldn't even consider buying any other brand than Spikes.

You can see the new billet lowers and the newest billet upper here. I believe these will be available for order within the next 3-4 weeks.

Need some advice of barrel length

So…. I have been wanting a carbine for awhile now but unfortunately just couldn’t fit a AR into the budget. I love them but it is just to pricey of a purchase for me to justify. However doing a bit of research I have heard a lot of good things about the Kel Tec SU-16. One of the things I like about it is that you can buy a adapter to put a AR style collapsible stock on it. There are also a few other accessories that allow you to turn it into a nice little carbine. The reviews have been good as well. My real question here isn’t so much about the SU-16 but about rifle barrel lengths because I am not much of a rifle guy.

There are a couple of different models of the SU-16. The two that I am primarily looking at are the SU-16C and the SU-16D (Which come in two modles, the D12 and D9). The D9 has a 9 inch barrel, the D12 has a 12 inch barrel and the SU-16 has a 16 Inch Barrel. I am leaning towards the D9 or D12 because I think I would prefer the shorter barrel. It seems like this would make it a bit better in terms of maneuverability in tight spaces like my house or any other indoor environment. So my question is basically this. How much accuracy am I giving up? I’m not looking for a long range tack driver but I don’t want to give up too much in the accuracy department. This weapon will not have a scope mounted to it. I will use something more along the lines of a red dot style optic.

I am systematically getting into shotguns, but I know very little about them, especially the additional components.

I picked up a beautiful used/older Wingmaster which came with an additional barrel and scope. The scope is a *Weaver K15-1* (engraved), with Weaver mount - no other markings that I could find.

Can someone tell me something about this scope and how much it's worth? The scope is in excellent shape. I tried google without luck.

Thanks!

id like to get some good sights for the 870, and also for our pardner pump. i figure ill get the same sights for both since both are in the house. im thinking of getting the mesa tactical saddle rail, so should i just get a front sight? in a HD situation would i even need anything requiring a rail? as much as id love to put an eotech on it it seems kinda impractical .

i see a bunch of cool looking iron sights around here but no idea what they are or how they go on.

thanks for your help!

Head separation quick fix.

Well I finally had a head separation in my AR the other day. Luckily it happened at a guys house that has 40 yrs experience working with firearms. He showed me a quick way to get the broken shell out of the chamber. He used a .22 cal brush and ran it down the muzzle past the shell, then pulled it a little ways back into the chamber/bore. Just enough to get the bristles pointing back towards the breech. He then popped the shell right out by pushing the rod back into the breech. I was a little skeptical when he told me how to get it out but it worked lickity split. Sorry if this is common knowledge but I thought I would pass it on for anyone who did not know already and was looking for a solution before they damaged their firearm trying to get the broken case out.

Most of us keep shotties and handguns handy at home in case of a home invasion or burglary. Does anyone keep anything out of the ordinary (not traditionally used for home defense) ready all the times at home as their only HD firearm that is ready at a moments notice?

For example an SKS, 10/22, a deer rifle or something else? Why did you choose that firearm over a handgun or shotgun?
