Hello all :) I'm a newbie from Richmond VA. Taking my concealed permit in a few weeks from Dominion shoot range and looking at getting my first handgun.

Although I haven't owned a gun before, I've grown up shooting 22's, shotguns, and a few handguns. I'm not a horrible shot with a pistol; my last time at the range didn't look too bad at all but I know I have a lot to learn and have a healthy respect for guns. Every time I look at my friends 40 (he carries it more often than not) he clears it and I still clear it myself.

2 of my friends purchased handguns (a glock 23 and a 27). The friend who bought the 23 hasn't really fired a handgun before and watching him at the range was a rather amusing experience. He's take his CC class at the same time I am, and my other friend already has his, so it should be a good experience.

While I was at the range I rented and absolutely fell in love with a PM9 with a crimson trace sight on it, so hopefully I will have one of those little buggers in a few weeks here. I was also looking at a Taurus Millenium pro, but after talking to the range owner as I have not shot one yet, he urged me to find a more reliable pistol for CC.

New guy from the Granite State. I accidentally stumbled across his site while searching the interwebz for reviews of Pure Kustom holsters. I'm glad I did. I am the same name on a few other gun forums as well. I look forward to having intelligent "conversations" with you, learning, and hopefully contributing to the forum.

I used to own a 9mmGlock that I carried for a couple days to get the feel of it, and I alwayse felt a little weird, like I was afraid I would get "caught" even though I had a permit and everything. I'm considering a 380 to carry again (on the fence between the Kel-Tec and the Ruger)

Anybody else efer get the creeps about carrying, like you're doing something wrong?

I know it's the right thing, I just can't shake that "feeling".

Hi, I'm new. I'm no expert, just an average guy who appreciates guns, the 2nd amendment, and has had various guns since I was young. Many years ago I used to shoot a lot, now just occasionally. My preference has been revolvers because that's what I started with. I've had a Ruger Police Service Six .357 for many years and I love it. I bought a S&W 442 (snub nosed 38 spcl) a couple of years ago when I got my cc permit. It meets my utilitarian personal defense needs (light, small, reliable, simple, punch). I bought a used Ruger P95 9mm a year ago and been using it as a groundhog gun and I love it. Very accurate, reliable, and comfortable...just too large to carry. Fine for the truck or nightstand. This week, I bought a Taurus PT709 slim 9mm and shot 50 rounds today at lunch. Seems great to me for my intended use, all purpose carry for personal defense (concealed, open, pocket, truck, nightstand). I have short fat hands and fingers, so it fits my hand great. Very thin, easy to carry in any manner, thumb safety. All shots fired and ejected like a charm with the cheapest FMJ ammo I could find. From 16 yards (48 feet) I was able to consistently hit a paint can with slow singles, double taps, rapid fire, one hand or two. Seems accurate for my intended purpose. Recoil is what you expect from a small light gun, but easily manageable. For me, they are purpose driven purchases. It's what fits your needs and you're comfortable with. I practice enough with each of mine to be confident in thier function and my ability for each one's purpose. If I want to target practice for grouping bragging rights with my buddies, I use my old single action six shot 22 lr revolver I've had since I was a kid. That thing is tight. I have different guns based on purpose, form, function, and ability.

Howdy everyone. I came across your forum searching for information on new pistols. Im going to buy a new concealed carry piece for myself as a Christmas present  I have been a member of a couple other Second Amendment forums for a while now, but I think I will have to start frequenting this one just as much. I have had an intrest in concealed carry for years now, I hope I can contribute to the site.

Hello all, This is my introduction to the DefensiveCarry.com community. I have recently joined the firearms community due to me finally seeing the true light of our current status as citizens in the U.S.A. I have since been taking steps to prepare myself and educate myself/others on ways to protect the people and not the "so called system".

I personally have attained my CWP, joined NRA, and purchased my first firearm (RUGER PK95 15RND MAGS STAINLESS) 9mm semi-auto handgun. I also am a member of GrassRoots Gunrights S.C. I believe this community will be a valuable tool to further my education about safe firearm operation.

Hi, from Reno...
I am a former LEO from The formerly Golden State, escaped to NV 12 yrs ago. After a few years of being "un-armed", I now have three handguns: a Ruger P95 with a light/laser combo( our "house" gun), a Kel Tec PF9 ( will be my carry gun) , and I just bought my wife a Bersa 380 with Crimson Trace grips (will be her carry gun).
We started buying guns because we are afraid of our government and believe in the 2nd amendment, we're also concerned about rising crime rates due to the growing unemployment and sliding economy!
