PLEASE HELP!!! glock 23 problem with scherer 3.5 trigger connector

I got a new glock 23 and installed a 3.5 scherer trigger connector, stronger glock competition trigger spring, and reduced power firing pin spring. When I put any one of these parts or all three of them in the gun, the slide sticks when trying to rack a round into the chamber. It sticks when the slide is being pulled back. When the bullet is about 1/4 to 1/2 way out of the chamber the slide sticks. You can pull it real hard and it's like the slide breaks loose and then it operates properly. It does it about every third to fifth round and sometimes when ejecting the first round all by hand. When actually firing the gun it cycles fine ,you can only tell there's a problem if you try to cycle by hand. When I put everything back to factory it works fine. And when I put the pieces in my full size glock 22 it works just fine. I have tried using different magazines with the 23 but it will still do it. I don't know what else the problem could be. It feels like a piece is catching on something then if you pull it hard enough it breaks free. But, I can't figure out what that could possibly be. Any help would be very much appreciated...

I am a pilot, it’s my job.

You can carry more places on an airport than you may think. In Tennessee, where I’m from, you can carry anywhere outside the TSA security inspection stations on your way to board an airline flight. Except for Nashville, which has posted (mostly) against lawful carry in the terminal and also on the gates into the general aviation area.

I work as a professional pilot on a small jet and some other, smaller airplanes. This year I also became a Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit holder, or HCP as they call it here, and I have jumped in with both feet into the carry lifestyle. I carry EVERYWHERE I legally can, even at home sitting in front of the television, and at church.

I guess you can imagine I get around.

I study the laws of the states I visit closely, and then state-specific forums to have a better idea of what to expect. This week I went to Wichita, Kansas. Upon arriving I was dismayed to see a great many businesses correctly posted restricting legal carry of a firearm. Many more than I see at home. This included Signature Flight Support where we (I and the guy flying with me) decided to leave the airplane for a few days.

When I got back to Signature today I legally drove armed onto their ramp to load the airplane with my baggage, then disarmed so I could go inside. This bothered me and I decided to confront so I met with the general manager.

You can imagine what went through my head on how I thought it would go. I went to the competition to compare fees and to see if they were posted to gain, you know, ammunition. Sorry, no pun intended.

I told the GM I had enjoyed his facility’s hospitality except for one thing: “Why are you posted against people legally carrying firearms?” He said they were posted because they had to be. I told him, no, that that was not true, that there was no Kansas statute that forced him to post. Besides, his competition wasn’t posted.

He was quite surprised. He then patted his right hip where apparently was an empty holster and said he had a permit as well and had wished he could carry there. He said when he started two years ago the signs were already up and he just assumed that the signs were required. We wound up having a great conversation. He vowed the next time I returned the signs would be down but heck he didn’t even wait that long. As my partner and I were walking out to depart he was there at the exit and showed me the razor in his hand, stating after he saw us off he was bringin’ ‘em down! He even marshaled us out, which I’ve never had a GM do.

Wichita has one less place that unfairly restricts your right to carry.

I'm thinking about going deer hunting with my father-in-law for the first time in my life. Arlington Man Arrested In Fatal Shooting Of Alleged Burglar - News Story - KIRO Seattle (http://www.kirotv.com/news/21665513/detail.html)

ARLINGTON, Wash. -- In what police say is an unusual case, a homeowner was arrested Wednesday night, accused of fatally shooting a man he said burglarized his house.
Detectives said the incident started Monday when a 38-year-man called 911 to report a burglary at his home in the 22800 block of 37th Avenue Northeast in unincorporated Arlington.
The man said he had returned home to find a burglar running out of his house, and found some of his wife’s jewelry was missing, a Snohomish County Sheriff's Department news release said.
Police said deputies and a K-9 unit searched for the burglar but found no one.
The news release said a few hours later, the man called 911 again and said the burglar had returned to the area. A deputy arrived to find the homeowner in the area looking for the burglar.
Police said the homeowner told officers he spotted a man in a nearby ditch along the road and yelled at him to come out and talk to him, but the man ran off across a field and into a wooded area.
The deputy checked the area where the homeowner said he had first spotted the man but found nothing.
On Wednesday, a neighbor in the same area called 911 and reported finding a body in a small creek that runs through a field on his property in the 23400 block of 35th Avenue Northeast, police said. Police said the body was that of a 25-year-old Snohomish County man.
Detectives said that during the course of the investigation, investigators learned that neighbors reported hearing gunshots Monday afternoon shortly before the homeowner called 911 the second time.
One witness told police he talked to the homeowner who told him he had fired a couple of “warning shots” at the man the homeowner saw running away into the field and wooded area.
On Wednesday night, detectives spoke to the homeowner who had called 911 twice Monday. Police said the man told them he was aware a body had been discovered in his neighborhood and that he was a part of the investigation. He then requested an attorney.
Detectives arrested and booked the 38-year-old man into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of second-degree murder.
Police said the Snohomish County Medical Examiner examined the body at the scene and discovered what appeared to be a gunshot wound. He also found items on the man's person that appeared to be consistent with what the homeowner said was stolen in Monday’s burglary, police said.

Reading through lots of posts, threads, and responses has me thinking....based on lots of the responses, I wanted to see how many persons on here have actually BEEN IN a shootout. Not heard, not saw, actually pulled a gun on someone and shot in self defense.

Please post some specifics if you have been (unless the investigation is pending of course! LOL!) rounds you fired, rounds BG(s) fired, number of hits on either of you, ect. Also looking at the overall outcome of the case..... justified, brought up on charges, sued, Ect.

Just an informative poll.....

I am thinking about buying a new handgun from a gentleman I met on a message board. I have had terrific success with this in the past but don't want to get "ripped off." If he ships the gun through his FFL, is there any guarantee that I have that I will get my gun? Or can I arrange something where I release the funds once the gun is received and inspected? Or use escrow?

Thanks.

Oh and by the way, if I bought a brand new gun from somewhere like Top Gun or Bud's, do I pay any kind of federal tax if I am not in the retailer's state?

I got to thinking about this the other night while watching a movie.

The people in Hollyweed might be stupid but they're not dumb. They know that movies make wonderful propaganda tools, and I really wonder if they don't put some of these myths into movies on purpose, as opposed to just being ignorant.

Some of the common themes I see are.

Automatic weapons widely available.

Gun registration in places that don't have gun registration.

Fugitives can get guns W/out a background check, easily

"Cop Killer" bullets

One of the most common myths I see (From "Shane" to "Billy Jack")
is that self defense (especially armed self-defense) is wrong and some thing that "ordinary" people can't do.

Another common theme I see is the idea that it's somehow honorable to take the escalating attacks of the villain W/out fighting back until some mythical line is crossed when the hero goes :danceban: and kills everybody

Although a lot of those movies are pretty accurate in depicting that the armed bad guys pretty much have their way W/ the unarmed peasantry until somebody gets tired of it and picks up a gun.

I would really like the Remington 887, but I don't think I can afford a $400 shotgun at this time. I saw a Mossberg Maverick 88 Field today in a local Wal-Mart for $187 dollars. WOW! Is that cheap! I know Mossberg makes a pretty good shotgun, but there next shotty starts around $350. Why is the Maverick so cheap? Is it going to break after 100 rounds? Is the Maverick a gun that I could go shoot 100 rounds in a trap match and be ok? Could I go Quail hunting and not have issue's? And is that front ball sight replaceable, with say a fiber optic sight? My dad has a bolt action 12 gauge that was his first shotgun, it was all that he could afford when he got married. I would deffinately be following in his footsteps with the Maverick, seeing how I got married 3 weeks ago .

All chime in are appreciated, thanks!! :yup:

Demographics Poll: DC.com

I'm wondering about the demographics of this board.

Specifically what type of area did you grow up in predominately (age 0 to 21), also what type of area do you live in currently (today right now).

As following the standards used by multiple state and federal agencies as related to location demographics, there are just two location types; Metropolitan and Rural.

Other types such as 'suburbs' and 'suburban' and 'exburb' as well as 'inner city' as though there is an outer city are not relevant to this threads purpose and application.
Those terms are better suited to describing specific real estate districts as within a region.

Definitions of Metropolitan and Rural are at the following; http://www.nal.usda.gov/ric/ricpubs/what_is_rural.shtml

Choices:
Metropolitan & Metropolitan
Rural & Rural
Metropolitan & Rural
Rural & Metropolitan
Metropolitan & <Not yet aged 22 or older>
Rural & <Not yet aged 22 or older>

If as growing up (age 0 to 21 yrs) you happened to have moved a lot and/or traveled as for any given reason (military, divorced parents, schooling, whatever) then answer to the first part of this question as based on the majority type of areas you resided within.

- Janq is Metropolitan & Rural

Note: This poll is not person specific, no request for such private information is requested to be specifically shared as a posting and this exercise is for entertainment purposes only as per my own curiosity.

Oldest Firearm design in your inventory?

I don't think I've seen this on here before, and it seems like it could be kind of fun, so here we go.

I was thinking about my collection, and a lot of my firearms are of older designs (some are actually old, some are replicas), I'm not necessarily talking about the age of the firearm, but the design for it (I.E., none of my 1911's were manufactured in 1911, and my 98k Mauser was not made in 1898). A lot of my favorite firearms, from those two examples from above, to my Peacemakers, and even my AR and AK which are both designs over 50 years old, have been around and doing their jobs for a long time. I think the firearms industry really is one where successful designs thrive, and over time it shows.

So, my firearm with the oldest design is a replica of a Colt 1851 Navy ball and cap revolver, not ideal for SD, but certainly fun to shoot. Who else has anything cool of older design that wants to share (look into it, you may be surprised how old some very popular designs are).
