Smith &Wesson 629 problems

He guys my 629 is getting a little hard to open the cylinder. Like it is dragging or something. However, if I dry fire a few times, it seems to open a little easier. Then it gets hard to open again.Any suggestions, or has anyone else had this problem?

Check the ejector rod while the cylinder is open. It may be loose. It should not rotate without moving the extractor star.

If it's loose, be careful about tightening it up. It may be reverse threaded.

Most likely, unburned powder granules and assorted grit have accumulated underneath the extractor star, preventing it from seating flush with the end of the cylinder.

Do a thorough cleaning underneath the extractor star with a bristle brush (like a toothbrush) and solvent.

This should solve the problem.
