Arrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhh!!!
Well,
This morning I managed to spill some isopropyl alcohol on the slide of my XD40 Service. Needless to say there is now a couple of gray smudges on the slide. ![]() Any ideas on how to restore the finish? I plan to call Springfield on Monday but I thought I would ask some of the experts here. Thanks, Mike

That is wierd...isopropyl shouldn't damage the finish like that. I've used it on my Sig to clean off the solvents from cleaning before I lube it.

Try rubbing just gun oil on the slide....
The alcohol dries funny leaving those kind of "stains", most times an gun oil bath will return the finish. |

Ditto JD and some gun oil but, try warming it up a bit with a blow dryer first. That usually works.

Looks like it just dried the oil off of the finish. A good rub down with some oil should get it back to normal.

Thanks guys, I will go get the rem oil and see how it goes. Doesn't look like any isopropyl got on the polymer, or if it did it did do any damage.

Ditto. Nothing to worry about. Get some oil and lube her up.
