| Firearm Cleaning & Maintenance Guns are mechanical tools that require routine cleaning and maintenance to remain dependable. This is especially true for defensive weapons that must work as expected when you need them the most. This forum will cover these important areas and encourage you to ask questions before taking on an unfamiliar task. |

I used to use Prolix, but have switched to Gunzilla. Mind you, I still use Slide Glide on the rails and other heavy contact points, because autoloaders just need some grease in certain places. But Gunzilla is a great cleaning product, to be sure.

I use gunzilla exclusively and had my 8 oz bottle for about 6 months or more,I sometimes still put some grease on the contact points on the slide rails, but this stuff cleans better than anything else and I love seeing a shiny bore

Used to use Hoppe's, Breakfree. Wanted something better and more "environmentally friendly" (less cancer). Tried Prolix, ok, but doesn't clean all that well, and I'm not too sure about the safety.
Tried Ballistol. Smells awful, and despite what some say, the smell lingers. On the other hand, safety wise, I think you could drink it. While waiting for Gunzilla, mixed up some Ed's Red. I know, plenty of cancer, but cheap, and I like making things myself. Works pretty well. Skipped the acetone, and keep it in a big Home Depot bucket outside. Especially nice to just dump the metal parts in and let them soak. Gunzilla: great. Barely any smell, nontoxic, cleans wonderfully, lubes (though I do still put a little extra on the rails), and so far, no rust. |

I've read enough favorable reviews of this product that I just bought the big bottle to check out. The only thing that kept me from trying it out earlier was that I still have a rather large bottle of Hopps#9, but I figure if I like Gunzilla I can give that bottle of Hopps to one of my buddies.
Thanks for the review. -Plop
