When I get off tonight I'll look at my favorites at home and see what Christian gun sites I can provide links to. Unless I am mistaken there are two in my favorites. Anyway about 7 hours from now I should post the links.

Folks My take is that I dont care who or what you worship , If you have faith i am glad for you . I similarly dont care who ( or in some cases what ) you vote for , if you vote your consince i am proud of you . All i ask is that you not try to sell me on your particular beliefs in either case . Ocationaly someone will yank my chain rather hard on an issue . What i normally do is put on my big boy pants and use the ignore feature that is kindly provided by the board software , at least untill my urge to respond in an unkind manner has passed . Now i am not always successful with this , and am cynical enough that what passes for humor with me can have an dark and offensive side , but i do try LOL . Disagreements do not have to deteriorate if even one party is mature , and that can make the mod team's job a lot easyer .

For those of you wondering why we try to keep politics and religion at bay, this the best example I can think of. If anyone else disagrees with the subject matter we choose to focus on in this forum or wanting something more from a forum than we provide, sorry. We are what we are and we're not planning on changing anytime soon....

I just don't get it sometimes. This forum is perhaps the most open and far-reaching on the net, especially when you consider it's nominally a "one issue" forum! There's an incredible diversity of members, all able to freely interact, with really only one guiding principle: be respectul and be polite. Topical religious and political discussions are carried on here all the time, with no problem at all, as long as that basic guiding principle is followed.

Some folks just don't appreciate what a gift this place is, and what a fabulous job is done by Bumper, first of all, and the moderators. This is my favorite spot on the net, and I'm extremely thankful that it remains true to its founder's design.

That's why you Mods get the big bucks

I've been to other boards where such arguments were allowed to escalate and go back and forth and back and forth until you just wanted the whole thing to go away.

To me the actions I have seen from the moderators is sorta like when you are out with friends and get into a heated argument that is solving nothing and then one of the friends (moderator) says, "hey guys, let's change the subject".

It's why I feel so comfortable here.

Kudos to the Mods -

Actually I agree with the guy up to a point. Being subject to God, does not mean I have to stir up trouble. Then again, one of His rules is that I do not deny Him. I do not think that you are asking for that though. I really like this forum, and have benefited quite a bit by it's existence. I intend to stay here until you either close up shop or kick me out.

Even so this thread bothers me. If this is just a reaction to recent events, which I have missed and things will remain pretty much as they have always been, then I am pleased to hear it.

However, if this means that ANY mention of religion or participating in the "preacher" thread is now verboten, then I feel this is a very sad day for this site.

I started the thread but can't speak for all the opinions contained, just the original intent.
There was a little incident with a post that was a little too 'scripture based', there have been other incidents involving political squabbling, there was a few close calls regarding flaming. I took it upon myself to say that it is to the detriment of the forum, most people chose to agree.
The inclusion of religion in the thread title was not an attempt to single it out, it just go more response and defense.

AFAIK things are indeed just as they were.

I'm pretty sure that's not the case, just. It just means that there's a place for everything.

Bob Ford's is still full of prayer requests, the Preacher thread is still open.

People just need to learn that sometimes, as sad as it may be, some people just don't want to hear the word.

There's a place for posts with that specific content, we just need to keep that content where it belongs in the forum.

GoodSamaritan I think it came about due to some recent posts and is in no way any change in policy from what we have had . I regret Holyrollers choice to abandon the forum and hope he reconsiders. He and i had a bit of a set to over the issue but we got it handled via pm as gentlemen and reached an understanding . I fired on him a bit in a thread and ignored him for a time , after i considered the entire issue a bit i sent him a pm and we visited via pm a bit with both of us regreting the tone the inital discussion took . I hope he will do some considering on leaving the forum and change his mind since he is an enjoyable thought provoking poster when he stays on topic to the threads lol . This entire thread tho is IMHO exactly why the policy we have is a good one and needs to be pretty much set in stone . I have myself transgressed and had posts deleted along with rather stern communications from the mod team . They were and are entirely right in their actions ( at least concerning the incidents i have personal knowledge of ) since the board needs to be enjoyable for all and not a soapbox for any one view.

For myself Hats off to the entire mod team , even including some of my posts that i did not and do not think needed modded . By that i mean they were and are my opinions , but quite possibly i should have STFU , or possibly been a lot less direct in the manner i expressed them lol .
