With our rapid growth over the past year or so, forum staff has been continually challenged by some of our new members. Challenged in respect to how to handle some of the negative attitudes, anti-social personalities and behaviors and language. We have also been literally challenged by some that have had to be reprimanded. They PM us trying to support their argument, but often are swearing the whole time about how unfair we are, that they have a right to post here as they see fit, regardless of our rules and that we should stop "singling them out".

In the last couple of days, we had just such an incident. A language edit made by one of our staff led to accusations of our stifling free speech. An explanation of why the language was not appropriate for this forum did not calm the situation down and the person started posting shots and jabs at our staff in thread. PMs were sent to our moderators, administrators and myself sometimes pleading for reconsideration, others ranting and threatening.

This person was, when he had made it clear that he would not follow the rules of this forum or cleanup his language, banned. This person then started using other accounts he had set up to start PM'ing us, alternating between asking to reconsider, and threatening to damage the forum through posting in other forums and hacking us. He also told us that we could not keep him off the forum and that he would be back.

Why am I telling you all this? Because he's at least making good on one of his threats by posting negatives about DC on other forums. Those of you that visit other forums will undoubtedly come across these posts and I thought that you should know "the rest of the story". We do not normally address accusations in other forums by disgruntled ex-members and will continue that policy in this case. He was a member here and is posting elsewhere under the name "Savage". Should you come across these kinds of posts penned under that name or possibly another, you should consider the source.

You should also understand that we support all of our constitutional rights at every opportunity. But we do have rules to preserve what has become our trademark, civility. Those that prefer chaos should understand that it will not be allowed on this site. If the forum is not to your liking, you should exercise your right to go somewhere else. I own this forum, but it was built by some of the best people there are in this country, our members, including staff. Members that appreciate that we are not a "no holds barred" forum where anything goes. We cater to those that are looking for something different in a forum, civility and a true community attitude. The darker element of our society are invited to leave at their convenience.

I will also take this opportunity to thank those members that support this forum and stand by us during this flurry of unnecessary drama. We truly do appreciate your contributions and support....

Again, sincere thanks to all who moderate this forum and keep it such a nice civil place.

Thumbs up Owner, Admin and Mods: A "Gold" Star!

Goes back to the Wizard of Id and the Golden Rule "He with the Gold Makes the Rule"

My kids still laugh about that derivation too - they heard it a lot! 'Poor things".........

As one who has been take to the shed a couple of times for posting stuff that I should have not (darn still hurts), I must say that Bumper & all the Mods have my support.

And if you guys care to PM me with the details as the who and where is this person posting, I shall unleash the Evil Miggy in me. Sometimes I feel the need to go back to my old Usenet Tactics & behavior.

I signed up over here because of one of those rants on another forum. Figured a place that would tolerate that stuff was probably one that I would enjoy, so far I was right.

You have my 110% support for the way you and your Admin/Mods run DC!

Speaking as a Mod on another forum, you do run the best behaved forum on the Internet!! We try (other forum) to minimize ill behavior, but aren't as successful as you are here. It certainly isn't an easy task.

Keep up the good work.

Well I missed all the drama ( why does life interfere with entertainment so much ? ) . However if anyone asks my opinion on John Deer tractor transmissions i am almost certain my opinion on the subject right now would have me booted too LOL . Just as a hint the 90 bucks an hour that John Deer shops charge for their work may be a bargain especially on the 4wd models lol .

Ill voice support for the mod team tho without reservation simply because all the butt chewings they have handed me have been well deserved .

I know that it can be hard to keep up sometimes. Every now and then someone can go on a tangent and try really hard to make life miserable. I was a mod many years ago and it was a full time job just to keep things civil at times. The problem was that most of the mods worked for a living and some of the posters lived on computers so it was very hard to keep up.
Im sorry that yall get put in that position sometimes, I know that it can be tedious. One would think that someone would just get on with it and move on when they disagree with things but its not always the case.

FWIW...I like many others think that this is one of the best moderated forums that I have ever frequented on the net. Even though I dont always agree 100% with a few things, the level of respect here is refreshing.

Thanks for doing a sometimes difficult job.

Thanks, Bumper and ALL the mods for the superb job that you do. I think I realize now that I'd make a lousy moderator, simply because that tends to be my day job in the classroom and I'd hate to carry it over into my comfortable "escape" zone. You guys are the best! OR as the kids say: You DA BOMB!

I now feel insulted. After all my posts and not one butt chewing!!!

You WILL be hearing from my attorney!!

When I originally found this forum, it was because of the meltdown of Packing.org.

It got so on that forum, that I almost felt like I was babysitting when reading the posts. That led me here and I never went back to PDO (may it rest in peace).

Besides, if someone is so emotionally immature that he can't present his opinion in a polite respectfull manner, I dont' want to hear anything he has to say.

By the way, I don't know what poster you are talking about (yeah, the work thing kept me away from the excitement, too) but I don't think you need to worry. People like that will self destruct on any respectable forum. The people who will listen to him should beneath your notice. They aren' worth the effort.

Keep up the good work!
