Emergency maintenance / forum performance (merged)

The forum has been slowing down for the past few days and in an attempt to get us back up to speed, I am going to need to take the forum down late tonight for an extended maintenance. Our routine maintenance I performed yesterday didn't seem to improve the slow response times. If that doesn't work, I'll probably be talking to the host about upgrading our server.

Sorry for any inconvenience, but has to be done sometimes....

Sounds like a plan. Thanks for your continued effort in keeping the forum online. And thanks for letting us know. I'm a network administrator and I know how it goes

Any idea about what time we'll be going offline? Do you expect to be back up by tomorrow morning (in time for my morning forum & coffee session)?

Peace,
Pete Zaria.

Thanks for the heads up for us insomniacs. I've noticed the slowdown recently.

I did notice that things were a bit slower. I figured the hamsters were getting a bit tired spinning that wheel.

Not sure what I will do while the site is down. Guess I will have to just practice my draw or something.

I'm going to be taking it about now. I really like to wait until after midnight when most people have logged and gone to bed, although there are always a few holdouts....

We should be down between 3 and 4 hours, but quite possibly longer.

Everything went fine in the maintenance and I'll continue to monitor performance for the next few days to determine whether the system needed an extended maintenance or whether it is time for an upgrade. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming....

Well, whatever you did made quite a difference thus far. Running faster for me now. I'm sure right now is not a peak time period though.

Definitely faster now. I thought someone had taken my high-speed connection and put me on dial-up. I feel better now.
