Costly for the likes of you and me, no doubt. Costly, indeed!

Well, I wanted to use "The only times in life when you can have too much ammo are when you're on fire or trying to swim.", but that one was already taken.

Even thought it is unofficial USMC doctrine, maybe I should change mine so I don't offend anyone.

I was going to go with this...
"It is only as retaliation that force may be used and only against the man who starts its use. No, I do not share his evil or sink to his concept of morality: I merely grant him his choice, destruction, the only destruction he had the right to choose: his own. He uses force to seize a value; I use it only to destroy destruction. A holdup man seeks to gain wealth by killing me; I do not grow richer by killing a holdup man. I seek no values by means of evil, nor do I surrender my values to evil."

But it was too long and somebody had already taken it.

Some signatures are "offensive" huh?

I am offended that you may find mine offensive.

I am also offended that something as simple as a mere signature could possibly offend someone.

But what really offends me the most, is someone that uses anything other than a .45 for personal defense. The use of mouse calibers offends me, the fact that someone may actually think that they are effective offends me, and people that advocate not doing anything to help their fellow man because they might get sued offends me. People that are too scared to act offend me. And last but not least, people that get offended by stuff that don't matter offends me.

Now that I am totally offended....

Am I seriously thinking of tying my cat to a rocket and launching it into the atmosphere.

Nah...I think I'll wait for dark. I wouldn't want to offend anyone here of the 4th of July.

Come to think of it...
I'm sure that celebrating the 4th of July offends some people.

Oh well.

The words "conteXt" and "conteNt" have been confused here. Although I largely agree with all the resoponses, some are answering the wrong question.

The signature lines, though some seem aggressive at first blush, are generally thought-provoking for those of us that think. For those "outsiders" that don't or can't, well, . . . I for one don't feel we should be obligated to limit ourselves to accommodate them. That's accomplished well enough in public schools, but we've all graduated now and (re)joined the Real World(tm).

As long as the line is not obnoxious, pornographic, or obscene, what does it matter if it's not "Politically Correct?" Neither is self-defense.

Stay safe,

Chuck Brick.

This is one of my pet peeves, it is distracting and annoying to see a graphic in a signature, especially when that person posts more than once in a thread. There should be no images, other than smilies, in signature lines. If you find one, let me know and it will be removed.

This is basically the policy on signatures, which is the same as the rest of the forum. There is really no difference between the two....

One of the tenets of responsible self defense is to shoot to stop the threat, not to "shoot to kill".

If I am ever cross examined by a Prosecutor after a self defense shooting I would not like to be asked about a signature that uses the word "kill" in reference to self defense. There are some prosecutors that would say that because I am a member of a forum where another member uses the word "kill" that I must subscribe to that belief. They have used the fact that a "hollow point bullet" was used means that a fatality was the intent. I am probably more sensitive because I testify on a regular basis and I am always careful to choose my words, especially when they are written. When I have something written in my file that can be used against me, it is!

As far as being sensitive, I am not as sensitive to the language, I am sensitive to the content and the intimation that this forum is for "vigilantes" or overly aggressive shooters, when in fact it is 99.5% responsible self defenders. But I really do appreciate that there are no "potty mouths" on this forum.
