Actually, we do remove "shoot to kill" signature lines, despite what my previous post stated. We removed one a week or so ago. While we reject political correctness, the forum will always reflect the values of responsible gun owners. Should the forum ever become known as a "vigilantes" forum, it will be promptly closed.

You've had that flag since before I removed graphics in signatures so you're good, QK. Consider it a perk for being on staff.

In keeping with the original post. I think the point may be that in different enviroments we act and speak differently. For instance, if you're with your friends you may use some words, some types of humor or sarcasm that you would be hesitant to, or refrain from completely in a different environment. If you were addressing your boss, pastor, mother, etc. many topics you would be avoided completely.

Like it or not this forum is not private. Any Internet user can access much of the content here without being a member or having any background or knowledge or self defense or firearms. You can find several references to posts here from all of the major search engines.

If the complete forum was set to private, like the moderators forum is then it wouldn't matter. Since it's not a closed forum we are literally addressing people who could very well be our bosses, pastors, mothers, etc. What we need to think about is what kind of first impression do we really want to make?

Edited to add: Is there a way to tell the difference between an open topic and a members only topic?

No offense and I am not trying to make everyone politically correct but some of the signature "sayings" on this forum seem overly aggressive. May I suggest that the saying you have posted be something you would not be embarrassed to speak in public, to your family or to a Prosecutor.

I don't want to point out anything specific but as an example when the word "kill" is used in the signature that seems more offensive than defensive.

But of course I respect everyone's right to their own signature.
Seems to be spliting hairs on the subject.

I'm still offended that someone is offended.

I guess you can look at this like some people are offended by types of weapons, magazine capacitys,The word kill is in the dictionary and I personally am sick of everyone walking on egg shells trying to be politically correct

To stick a woman's .02 in, I have yet to see anything offensive in any of the sig lines. The lack of political correctness is one of the reasons I decided to join in the first place.

Different kind of offense. I really was not trying to make a play on words, I meant offensive is in aggressive not offensive as in it offends me. This is not offensivecarry, but defensivecarry. I just checked and there is no site called offensivecarry.com (which I am glad)

I don't pay much attention to the signatures. Links generally grab my attention more than most, and there are always those funny ones worth reading all the way through. I like things short, sweet, and to the point most of the time. Folks have a right to express themselves even if it's in a small way--individuality. If you think your signature is questionable, just state it in a different language.
