Question Gaining Members?

It sure seems like there is an increasing number of new members coming onboard which is great. Can anyone quantify that perception?

So we gained double what we usually get in December, January, and February. Now its tapering off here recently but the site is still above the average set from before. I believe the answer is yes membership has increased.

True, but remember that it's only the 20th, still got some days left in the month to see how membership increases.

Remember, there's still 11 days left in March. Those stats reflect numbers through the 20th (assuming they were collected today).

Oops, sorry. Should have read through the entire thread before posting.

Yes, a gun is a weapon. But the danger comes from the mind attached to the trigger finger.

In the Forum Stats... it says 5,000 + "active members" with 27,000 + members.

How do you determine the "active" status? Does one have to post something at least once in a 30 day period or something?

I'm not an expert on this particular forum's software (vBulletin), but I suspect it's a function of the software itself. I suspect it keeps posting stats on a per (day/month/year/etc.) basis and reports those.

Also, 5,000 out of 27,000 is not unusual. There is usually 20% or less "active" participation in most forums. In this forum I counted over 15,000 members who have never posted, 0, nada. That's over 50% (actually almost 60%) who have never participated.

I think there's a post count requirement to be an "active" member, but I don't recall the number, it was nothing crazy, just enough to reflect a user actually joining and posting, lurkers or members who join but don't hang around aren't counted as active members etc.

Cool... btw, I like the new stats you started posting recently with the top thread starters, top posters and such.

It really shows that DC.com is a very active place and just confirms, this is the best place on the web for ccw folks.

I've been a member for over a year and belong to a few more ccw forums but DC is by far the most informative, useful and the only one that has a sense of community to it, lets keep it going.
