Where is the edit button?

As a rule I try to be very careful before hitting the "submit post" button.
Today I noticed that the "EDIT" button is missing from my latest posts.
Under posting rules it says I may edit. Are there certain areas that the edit feature is turned off? Is there a problem with my account?

I do not post often to threads unless I think I have something to contribute but would feel very bad putting up a post of some sort with bad info and was not able to edit it somehow.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Well sure enough the edit button appears to work for me in this thread.
Makes me look foolish. I still wonder about other threads I have posted in though.

I'm pretty sure there's a time limit. I can't edit any of my older posts.

There is a time limit on when you can edit a post. I'm not sure of the time frame, but I think it has to be edited the same day it is posted. One of the Mod's will be able to tell you how long for sure.

Yes there is a time limit to edits, although I am not sure how long it is.

I went back through old posts and I can only edit the ones I've posted today. So it looks like archer51 is correct.

Yes, a gun is a weapon. But the danger comes from the mind attached to the trigger finger.

Thanks to those that responded. It would seem there is indeed a time limit and it is in place for good reason.

I have to disagree. I went back to posts that I submitted yesterday and the edit button was gone.

You can edit a thread title for 24 hours, individual posts for 12 hours. The perfect example of why we do this just happened a day or so ago. A new person joined, started some threads, made some posts and then went back through them and deleted the contents of 47 posts. There were only 5 that he could not edit. Honestly, I almost changed the setting downward, but decided against it at the last minute. Deleting the content of posts once people start responding makes a mess of things.

That being said, if there's something that you would like to have edited after that, let us know and we can change it for you....
