Yes, I know its a dumb question but forgive my newness and genetic lack of brains.

I've noticed that older post (in the "new Member") section are locked.

Doubting that they are all in unacceptable taste, I suppose that there's a time limit for open threads.

If this is true, does that apply to all threads?

It looks like anything older than 3 months is locked. I don't think that's true for all threads, although I might be wrong.

My guess is that after 3 months a "new member" thread has run its course.

It was sort of decided to limit the welcome threads so we wouldn't have people going back and "welcoming" folks years after they arrived.
