What are the FFL requirements for shipping a gun?

I sold my HK on GunBroker.com. I told the buyer who won it I needed his FFL to send me a signed license. He emailed me tonight asking if his FFL could fax or email the FFL license. Anyone know the requirements? Is it okay if the FFL license is faxed or emailed as an attachment?

AFAIK for a while now - a faxed, signed FFL is enough. You can also go to BATFE site and check an FFL serial number for authenticity - as can others.

If this checks out then it should be good to go.

EMail of FFL is still NOT allowed, only Fax or hard-copy via USMail/hand-delivered.

I'm sending a gun to Maine as a trade for another gun from the same FFL Holder. All I have to do is to take the faxed copy of the FFL (got it yesterday) and go to UPS and show them the FFL and tell them I'm acting as an AGENT for the gunshop and pay the fee. That's it.

I'm trading a Kel-Teck folding carbine in 40 + $100 for a Charter Arms BullDog 44sp. I think that's a good deal since the Kel-Tec is used and the BullDog is new.
