This is through the 10.5 in PC model. Recoil is not bad with anything but the 700gr. When you load those to the max you know you touched off something a little different
Actually i think the 700 is gentler than the 440's

We may have to agree on disagreeing. the 700 with 25 gr of H110 I think is a real wrist breaker, a couple of those and my wrist just plain hurts.

Just my $.02 but I think the lighter bullets give the comp more gas to work, and with the 700 there just isn't enough gas left to do much. I find the lighter bullets like the 275s have a lot less muzzle rise but the 700 seems to have the most.

Either way I cannot wait to get a Whitetail with one of those 275s. I had an opportunity to get a small doe last year but I passed as I didn't figure there would be much meat left on her by the time the 500 was done doing it's magic. Hopefully better hunting this year.

I think you big bore revolver guys are nuts! To answer the questions: 1) I think a .500 S&W would be my worst nightmare
(unless they made a .600); 2) whatever amount my hospital/chiropractor bills would be after I got through shooting it; 3) I don't think ANY barrel length would be controllable unless it's more than 16" and a shoulder stock comes with it....but the longer barrel would probably be more controllable.

Hey, but seriously, if it floats your boat, get it and enjoy it!

You can always back off a tad and play with this

Talking

Thanks to all that have posted so far, all of your comments and opinions are welcomed!!

Fortunately Randy, The Government makes any manufacturer jump through a long line of very specific hoops that are difficult to accomplish in order to make any caliber above .50 (which is what I read in my research on these big caliber handgun rounds) So until someone jumps through a million hoops to make a .550 or .600++ then this is probably as big as its going to get!

Bud, as always the pics are interesting and appreciated. I actually thought of you and Chris (not that way!! LOL ) when I was posting the original thread. Im anxious to check out the action shots you get.

Chris, I knew you would also have a contribution, on a previous thread I saw that same picture you posted (red velvet- the Chris P95 Trademark of gun display ) and thats what drove me to check out magnum research for the first time! Sweet revolver for sure!

Shaun

Here's a frame from a video of me touching off an 8" .460... hornady factory loads, in broad daylight. The cylinder gap flash is impressive... but the real noticable thing in the video is the brass on the table below me bouncing 2 feet off the table every time I pull the trigger :)

Can't shoot that thing without a big grin :)

A good friend of mine has one of the S&W 500's with a 4" barrel...we took it to an indoor range on a slow day (the RO was the only one else there) and he fired a couple of cylinders. The concussion (as opposed to mere muzzle blast... ) was eye opening...it caused the light lens on the exit sign behind him to fall off...twice.

I don't really have a desire to shoot handguns this powerful, but "to each, his own"...

Very much so team american. When I witnessed a man shooting a huge revolver at my range, afterwards I asked him the round.. He said it was a 480 Ruger. But the concussion it produced.. (especially the first time when i preparing to shoot, and he shot when i didnt expect it. I had to wait until he was reloading to actually shoot!) HUGE air pressure change when that thing fired. It still amazes me to think about it. I dont doubt the Exit sign falling apart.. at all!

Pragmatic side says "Unless your using it as a sidearm on a big game hunt, I think your better off with a shotgun."

Fun side says "Bet you cant Double gun that!!"
