I have both, my first rifle and pistol I ever shot. A Remington Speedmaster 552 and the Ruger MkII Standard. Both in .22lr. Got them when my Dad passed.

They both shoot great, and I take the pistol just about every time I go to the range. Been thinking of making her a safe queen since there is so much sentiment, and replacing it with another MkII for range duties.

Still have and still shoot the Ruger 10/22 my dad bought me when I was 16. She's got plenty of rounds through her and still shoots just as well as she did 16 years ago!

When my sons are old enough, I'm giving it to them. Hopefully, they will grow up and have kids who can also have the fun of shooting that little .22!

Granddad gave me my first .22 when I was 10. It was a semiautomatic J.C. Higgins Model 30 that my grandmother bought for him in 1953. I think it was actually made by High Standard for Sears.

I would not even be able to guess how many rounds it has had put through it over the years, but it has performed flawlessy for the 30 years that I have had it.

Actually brings back some great memories of spending time with my Granddad. Shame all kids aren't raised to appreciate hunting and shooting.

Well before I get to philosophical I think I'll end this post.

How many folks still have their first 22 rifle?

My first, a 1941 Model 74 Winchester (no, I didn't buy it new ).

Savage .22 single shot...

My dad gave it to me for Christmas when I was 10 yrs old. We lived on a dairy farm and got up at 4:00am to milk the cows so "Santa" would put everything out under the tree before "they" went to bed. I would sneak out of bed to see what was there. When I saw that rifle I couldn't sleep for the rest of the night. 26 yrs latter, I can still remember that Christmas like it was yesterday.

I have a J.C. Higgins semi auto .22 (a High Standard by any other name) that was the first gun I ever shot. Still a sweet little shooter.

Glenfield Model 80. Just passed it on to my oldest son last year, and he loves it as much as I did.

Sorry to say I don't have my first .22 it was a glenfield single shot, don't rekolect what happened to it, But I do still have my first pellet gun a Sheridan pump .20cal still break it out and shoot it occasionally, Not gonna say how old it is , but they were real air rifles when I got it. Can't count the number of rabbits, squirrels, muskrats it took.
