I never really got a .22 and didn't get my 1st gun (a Rem 870) until I was 18 or 19. I confiscated my dads 10/22 but sold it to help fund the 870. But I do have an old Remington 550-I .22 I inherited when my grandfather passed away a few years ago. I suspect that will be the 1st gun I give to my son, that is when I have any children. I'm sure he will hear some storys about how his great grandfather was the finest man I had ever known.

1st .22

I still have my Remington "Target Master" that my Grandmother gave me when I was 7 (21 years ago).

My father-in-law bought me a Remington Nylon 66 for my birthday a couple years ago. His first .22 was a Nylon 66 and he still has it. Here is mine.

Its alot of fun. I've never really had any problems except with some really bad ammo that I got for $10 for 2,000 rounds. :) Everything else goes through it like a dream.

We had a groundhog in the garden yesterday morning. I keep a scoped Marlin 60 above the back door, so I grabbed it went outside and cleanly missed the little varmint. Not long after lunch the wife says "he's out there again", so I go to the safe and grab my old Glenfield 10, draw down on him and smack him right in the head with a little CCI Stinger from about 50 yds away (no scope). Looks like I need to re-zero the 60.

My father gave me his mossberg model 36.I still have it.It's especially
special now as I just lost him couple months a go.It started me down
most enjoyable hobby I've been doing for 43 years.I started with
this old rifle when I was 7.This is one of those you've shot so much you just point.

I have my first 22 which was also my dad's first 22. It is a 1906 Winchester pump manufactured in 1920.
My dad's uncle bought it new at the hardware store and me and all my brothers learned to shoot with it at a very young age. I will pass it on to my grandson when he gets a little older.

Just a typical New Hampshire country farm kid.
At age 9 on Christmas morning in 1957 I find under the tree a brand new shiny J.C. Higgins (Marlin 110) single shot .22 rifle.
That day and just after I'm taught all about the rifle, safety, shooting, responsibility and gun ownership by my Dad. He and me practiced out by the barn. Along with the rifle, I'm given 1 box of ammo and an old gun rack. The rack is put on the wall and I am allowed to keep all in my room.
Had to buy all my own guns and ammo from that day on. Used that gun and others a lot growing up. Some tin can targets, but mostly frogs, squirrels, chipmunks, bluejays, porcupines and woodchucks.
Still have the JC Higgins, a favorite. My kids were taught with that gun as well. After almost 50 years of use, finally had to recently put on a new stock and installed a fresh firing pin.
