Okay, I've got another question for you guys. I'm known as the gun guy at work (Well the small gun guy. When we start speaking about the big guns at work I'm still getting there...), so my old team chief got a gun in his grandfather's inheritance. And he promptly handed it over to me to clean it and take a look at it. Unfortunately I'm having trouble finding anything about it.

It's a Sear's 20 gauge shotgun. Printed on the side is
SEARS RoEBUCK AND CO.
MOD 75 20 GA. 583.7500

Any help would be appreciated.

Only thing i can find is pointing it to being a high standard model 10 ..

but there listing fo sears model #'s the closest is 583.7


so i cant saw for sure how about a pics someone will know

If you belong to the NRA, write a letter to the American Rifleman with all the info you have and they can tell you about the gun.

Any pic? I have an old Ted Williams M200 12G pump that I believe was marketed by Sears way back.

Seems they had quite a variety of manufacturer sources.

You might try looking up "J C Higgins". Sears sold a lot of those years ago, but I believe it always said that on the barrel...

I believe that it is a High Standard Supermatic Deluxe 20. Does it look like the gun in this ad?

Okay, I did a little more digging and I'm pretty sure that it's a High Standard. Attached is a picture I shamelessly ripped from an auction, it seems to be the same gun.

So my next question is, does anybody know anything about a High Standard Supermatic Deluxe 20?

The old Sears Ted Williams models were indeed actually produced by High Standard, and they are great shotguns. I have one in 20ga.

High Standard made a very good product, but about 60% of their sales were private label sales to places like Sears, but law changes led to such outlets dropping firearms sales and HS folded.

There is a web page somewhere (lost the link) that will let you search private label models and give you the actual manufacturer.
