It depends on what you will use it for; for example, if you were a key witness on a high profile criminal case - in the metro area of Puerto Rico happens pretty often, the vast mayority being drug/gang related -, yes I would feel undergunned, specially since most of the BGs will show up in a group of 4 or 5 armed with Aks, ARs and Glocks.
I live about 2 blocks from a public housing compound, aka the "proyects"; right now we have 3 state police squadcars (about 12 officers) parked at the entrance in SWAT gear due to a drug/gang war. If you happen to be driving around at the wrong place/time, and you became a "witness", you can be sure the BGs will do anything within their means to take you out. So a pistol with a few 10-15 round mags might come in handier than a revolver with a few 5-6 round speed loaders. It really comes down to how bad of an area you live/pass by. Just my 2 cents. I live and work in a very quite area. Not much at all in the lines of gangs or organized crime. I carry just because I can and I would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Because I have been carrying "light" over the summer, I have been carrying a Kel-Tec .380. So when I carry my Taurus Model 85, with .38 +P I feel like I have actually stepped up a notch. I would rather the weather would cool down so that I could go back to my Glock 19. I do like having a lot of rounds available.

I'd carry two. Not because I'd need to, but because I've always wanted twins.

My quiet unassuming wife’s carry piece –
It’s a Ruger SP-101 with a 3" barrel, in 357 magnum caliber, and stoked with Speer 125 grain GDHP's. She carries it inside a Kramer Gunleather pocket holster with 2 extra, 6 round, Bianchi speedstrips. 5 shots is marginal for facing down any serious threat. It may take all 5 shots to take an aggressive male attacker out. Problem is, what if there’s more than one attacker? The only sure way to take a man down with a pistol – any pistol – is to, ‘weigh him down’. I always get a kick out of these, ‘Which is better, 9mm or 45 acp?’ threads. Fact is, ‘Neither!’ Under most circumstances you should continue to fire to a, ‘dead stop’ – period! I, still, don’t know if 5 shots would have done it for my wife the night 2 gangbangers tried to steal her new car; but, at least, she presently understands, ‘confrontational dynamics’ a whole lot better than she used to. She made every mistake in the book, and still came through unscathed and in possession of the vehicle. I told her it was, ‘beginner’s luck! These, ‘baggy pants dudes’ hesitated to act as she very foolishly closed with them, jumped into the car, and locked the doors. When one guy banged on the window and spit at her, she floored it and ran over his foot! I was sitting at the computer doing what I’m doing now when she came through the door, a 1/2 hour late, with the comment, ‘The spirit of my recently departed mother just saved my life.’ I stopped what I was doing, thought for a moment, and replied, ‘What did you say?’ All I can imagine is that her quick, apparently fearless, behavior and the sheriff’s plate on the front of the car must have given these boys that vital moment’s pause she needed to get away. Some good did come from this incident: To my surprise, she finally asked me to give her one of my guns! Everything in the safe was either too big, or too scary for her; so, we ended up buying a brand new, 'Ruggie' SP-101. (Her name for her new revolver.) To my even greater surprise, she never goes anywhere (except New Jersey) without, 'Ruggie' slung under her shoulder. Hey, 5 quick shots is OK for a woman's purse or for a backup weapon. It might, however, come up short for ya at another time. If nothing else I've finally managed to get her to obey that all-important fourth rule of gunfighting, 'Always have a gun!' Although my primary carry is a SIG P228 with 13 + 1 loaded, and one P226 15 round magazine for reload, I do carry a S&W M65 .357 MAG. a good bit as well. I don't feel undergunned with the wheelie.
