Just got back from shooting a little while ago. We tried several things to get the hang of the Taurus today. First we fired one .410 000 at a 5 gallon paint bucket full of water at 5 yards. The three projectiles hit the bucket within about 1.5" of each other. All three passed through the plastic of the bucket and the water and out the back side of the bucket. The entry holes were nice and clean the exit was more like blowing a hole about 2.5 to 3" out the back side. None of the projectiles was still in the bucket. I don't know how this would equate with a human body, but if I shoot a similar bucket with a 10mm hollow point it blows a bigger hole in the back side, but has only one in the front. I can say that I don't think I would like someone shooting at me with the Taurus 44 Ten and .410 000.
The next experiment was to place three IPSC silhouette targets side by side touching shoulders and see what happened with the 000. We fired 5 rounds this way. 2 rounds at the center target, 1 round each at the right (our) and left target, and one round at the place where the right target meets the center target. Each time we fired at the targets at 15 yards we hit two of them except when we fired at the left target. Two pellets hit that target and the third missed. The two times at the center target resulted in two hits on the center and one on the left one time and one on the center and two on the left the second time. The one shot at the target on the right resulted in two rounds in it and one in the center target. When I fired at the junction of the right target and the center target I hit two on the center and one on the right. At 25 feet the results were similar. All three in the target aimed for or 2 and 1. I have gotten in some 200 gr CCI Blazer JHP in .45 Colt on Thursday so we decided to at least get a feel for them since there will be 2 of them along side 3 .410 000 in the Taurus in its house gun location. Leah wanted to shoot a gallon milk jug with water and she did. The results were about the same as with a 10mm JHP. I wanted to try something different, so I fired the next 4 rounds at the silhouette target in rapid fire. I fired one at the middle, left, right, and back to the middle as fast as I could shift and pull the trigger. All four rounds hit in the A zone on the target and I was really pleased. I think my next purchase will be a .357 revolver. I seem to shoot the revolvers a little better than the semis. Except for the Taurus 44 Ten the only revolvers I own were made in the 40s and are not really very powerful. The are nice to have since one belonged to my father and the other was used by him in the shoot out at his country store. I fire them occasionally, but they are not intended for anything but looking at. In an emergency it is good to know that I still have two more guns and some ammo available. This will be our last range visit with the Taurus for a while. We know how it works and are competent with it, so it will be in the house gun location in the event it is needed. I suspect that it will be at least 6 months before we take it out to shoot again.

Glad you got to testing it out George. Oh heck - I still haven't made it to range to really wring out the UC9 - shucks - gotta do that!
It seems (predictably) that a pattern of 000 will open up pretty quick but at close ranges - still a very ''useful'' ''deterrant'' ![]() .357 revo huh! Well - many choices open but - if you can find a nice 4" GP 100 or earlier 4" 686 you'd be pleased with either IMO. That said - if a Smith M28-2 makes itself available - snap that up. Any self-respecting guy should have a .357 revo ![]()
