New Taurus Pro Pistols

Has anyone tried one of the new Taurus 24/7 Pros or Millennium Pros with the new SA/DA trigger? A buddy just bought a PT145 Millennium Pro with the new trigger, but has not had a chance to fire it. There are some cosmetic changes too. The easiest one to spot on the PT145 is that where the old ones had Millennium Pro on the left side of the slide and PT145 on the right; the new version has Millennium on the left and PT145 Pro on the right.

Here is a description of the trigger from the 24/7 section on the website.

He found out about it reading the manual. The manual on the Taurus site is the old one and doesn't contain any mention of the SA/DA trigger. He has dry fired his and there is a difference. When he racks the slide and starts to pull the trigger there is about a half inch of slack and then there is a spot where tension is felt. If he pulls past that tension spot the trigger breaks like a glass rod. If the round does not fire you can pull the trigger again, but it is a full double action pull. My buddy won't get to fire his until Sunday afternoon and wanted to find out if anyone here has actually fire a Taurus with the new trigger.

I have the new PT145 PRO with the SA/DA trigger and I love it. The new model also has the two dot Heine sights which takes a while to get used to but work fine after that.

I agree with you PAPACHUCK. I have a older 24/7 and I recently acquired a new PT145 in .45. The 24/7 used to be my primary carry, but after handling and extensive shooting of the PT145. I switched to the PT145 without much heartache. I love carrying the 145. A friend turned me onto the 145; after he used it as his primary carry while on an overseas assignment. I consider it a great weapon for the job its designed to do.

I like the sound of that - it must make for a better feel of consistency.

So - if trigger effectively sitting ''at the ready'' in a SA mode - I assume then there is a safety available?? It would seem prudent to have another layer of safety in this mode.

I really have never so far explored the Taurus semi's at all.

The trigger on my PT-145SS does not bother me in the least. The only place I notice it ,is careful target shooting. When practicing defence shooting I am pulling the trigger with one intention and trigger pull is not a concern. However I think the new gen. trigger is the fix for the complaints that haunt this weapon.

It sounds as if Tarus put the trigger system from their 945 on the PT145 pro. I have a 945 and find that the safety doesn't stay on all the time , it is easily nocked off. Does the safety on the PT 145 Pro have a solid click and stay on ? Since the Safety on the 945 is also a decocker I usuall decock it. The 945 is my bedroom gun.

I'm a new PT145 Pro owner and I love mine. I was very pleasantly suprised at the low felt recoil, I was expecting a handful. I also love the SA trigger. Its not as crisp as a 1911, but its short with a short reset - nice.

I hear of people having problems with these pistols having light strikes on winchester ammo. The winchester primers are harder than CCI or Federal for example. In some cases as the pistol wears in the problem goes away. I would NOT carry winchester primed ammo in this pistol for SD.

Everything else about it I love. Its the best combination of firepower, size, weight, accuracy and reliability on the market IMO, provided you feed it what it likes. I have no problem doing that to gain those attributes.

I'm having to get used to carrying cocked and locked, practicing sweeping off the safety until it becomes natural. It takes some getting used to.

I also have the new pt145,in over 600 rounds fired,I haven't had a single problem of any kind.The safety operates just like the ones on the 1911 pistols.It moves in the same direction and on mine,there is a definite click when it moves,it feels just like my springfield to me,just about the same ammount of pressure,I don't think it will come accidently.Great gun in my opinion. sj
