+1 on Heat

Certainly not the first, but one of the most memorable to use actual gun fire for the sound effects. The gun battles were thunderously loud! Pretty good use of tactics and ballistics as well.

I've watched HEAT a few times and seem to always find something new in it. Fantastic shootout in a crowded downtown location!!
Another good shootout was in CARLITO'S WAY (Al Pacino was in this movie also). It took place in a subway terminal...great tactics by Pacino's character.

Way of the Gun...one of the best! Unfortunately it's the bad guys doing most of the work. But very good all the same.

Way of the Gun was my very first thought.
Tears of The Sun, Outlaw Josey Wales and of course Shane would be another.

All the ones I would have said have been mentioned: Heat, Collateral, and my current favorite, 24. While there may be some unrealistic material, all in all, the tactics displayed are pretty decent. For example, the scene in season 4 when Jack drops a guy whos armed with an AK, he picks up the AK and continues fighting ("a handgun is for fighting your way to a rifle").

The John Wayne version of the Alamo,Saving Private Ryan. Flyboys was pretty accurate as far as the weaponry they were using. Band of Brothers, The Unit episode where the newbies wife was going to be assaulted her carry pistol saved her hide. A couple of episodes of NCIS. 24
Are a few I can think of

Ronin was pretty good, particularly the gunfight under the bridge.

I really liked Band of Brothers, and We Were Soldiers. It always bothers me when Hollywood messes up its depections.

In Heat, I especially liked the way you could hear the gunshots echo off the buildings. VERY realistic.
