I always see votes for Heat and Saving Private Ryan. But rarely for Tears of the Sun. Does anyone else think this is a great movie. Finally a good special forces movie. Watch that and the older movie "Navy Seals" with Charlie Sheen and see the difference. Charlie fired his MP5 from the hip and didn't have the stock extended.

I lose faith in a movie's gun correctness when characters dual wield pistols and hit someone every time. I would feel safer squaring off with someone dual weilding two Glock 17s and only have my Sig. Sometimes it bothers me when they shoot one handed.

Oh also in one of the Lethal Weapons Mel Gibson's character dove and rolled. While he was rolling over he shot several times and killed at least one maybe two BGs.

I also liked Tears of the Sun. The ending gun fight is definately impressive, although for the first 10 minutes or so they are splitting the S about 30 ft from a battalion of rebels and surviving. Has anyone seen Open Range? That was one of the grittest gun fights I've ever seen!

That was pretty good, what was really good about the fight was his assesment of the fighting ability of each of the bad guys.

I have to agree with Ronin. I had forgotten about that one.

Open Range also was very well done.

Last Man Standing may have been fun to watch but in no way would I say that Hollywood "Got it Right." Come on, guys flew through doorways and 20 feet backwards into the street from being shot with 45s...

Road to Perdition seemed well done.

If you watch 24 (my wife is an avid fan, and I much prefer it to "Days of our generally hospitalized lives" and "dancing with the stars" and such.) in season one, or early season two I am 99% sure I saw Jack thumb cock a glock. LOL!

What about Sniper?

How about the first Sniper Movie with Tom Berenger? One of my favorites, and I really sensed the acurracy of the gun handling in the scene where he had the BGs coming toward him, even though he failed to take cover, in order to fire at them he kneeled, held the 1911 with both hands, and actually directed aimed fire at the enemy, instead of spraying bullets, while waving the gun around, like in most movies. I know that a Marine sniper (any Marine who was paying attention, and/or anyone who knows about guns for that matter)knows that bullets go where you aim them, not where you will them and think this scene shows the level of training one would expect to see.

The second sniper movie was quite unrealistic in this respect

Two words...

Matthew Quigley.

Honorable mention....Tough one. Lots of older movies come to mind. The Wild Bunch. Gettysburg (live fire sound effects there too), Unforgiven. Saving Private Ryan. Platoon. I just like, and my girlfriend hates, movies where I can go "I've got one of those" more than once.

Does anyone remember the name of that movie with Gary Busey (pre-drugs) Great quote in it, but can't think of the name of the movie to save my life. "We want freedom. And we want guns so they can't take our freedom away. And we want mines and mortars and grenades, so they can't take our guns away". Please help.

Loved Quigley Down Under! Great movie. As for TV, I got hooked on "The Shield".

Miami Vice did impress me with it's accurate shooting depictions (to an extent). Man I love that old show.

Anyone forget about The Bourne Identity, with Matt Damon? Now honestly, the parting shot in the movie (jumping off a staircase and getting someone on the way down) was a bit out there, but I thought the rest of it was pretty solid.

Oh yeah, AND HE WIELDED TWO GUNS AT ONE TIME IN THAT MOVIE. Lol, some of us happen to LIKE using two handguns at once as opposed to one. :)

IMO the original Sniper was not very good. They cleared a village with their scoped sniper rifles and even held them from the hip. Seemed pretty lame. And when he was filing the "burrs" off of his ammo. There were some decent parts though.

And I forgot about Open Range. That was a great movie and probably the best western movie thats been released in a long time.
