Pickpocket
Remember, people - it's television. They're not interested in showing those cops in any other light than that which will gain the most ratings.

Additionally, it's not as though this show airs without having been scrutinized by the department. The department is obviously ok with what's being shown - whether concerning officer's personal lives or team tactics.

MattXYZ - two points:
  1. We all understand the BT myth, which makes your explanation seem more about showing how much you know than contributing to the discussion.
  2. Your post comes across more anti-LE than critical of the show itself. That's a fine line, and may cause some to lose sight of what you were actually trying to say.

Dallas Swat

I witnessed one episode of the Dallas SWAT "Paramilitary" personell unloading thier M4's on Full Auto..............................WHY ??

This to me is disturbing on many levels of which is only fair to start another thread on the use of , and training on FA features with sub-guns, or carbines. If SWAT needs to "Break Contact" they just might be outgunned, or forgot to use tear gas, and a shotgun. Full Auto has no place in urban LEO employment. Here's the military's CQB/MOUT methods of fire straight from the training manual.

1. Slow aimed fire

2. Controlled pairs

3. Double taps.

4. Hammers.

Oh yeah, I'm interested also in the need for tactical vests that sport a complete load out for a 3 day LRRP.
