thinking of trading in my wheelguns
My roommate is interested in my S&W Model 19 .357 mag revolver, and I also have a Model 10 .38 Special. The guns just don't really do anything for me; I bought them in January from a friend because he just wanted to get rid of em. Paid $100 for each of em. I'm willing to sell the 19 to my roommate for ~$175 (it's in perfect working order, but does have some nicks and scratches). The .38 I'm debating about whether to sell or not; I'd like to keep at least one wheelgun just for posterity's sake, and I kinda like it more than the 19 anyway.
In any case, I'd be using the money/trade toward another gun. It'll either be a Walther P22 (I actually do not own a single .22LR gun!), or a rifle of one type or another. Ideally I'd get a Springfield Armory M1A, but they're a bit out of my price range at the moment. Otherwise it might be a Remington Model 700 of some variant in .308/7.62x51. Any comments or suggestions are welcome. ![]() |

I hope your friend doesn't join this forum....he might not like that his friend is making a profit off of him....granted $175 is a great price for a Model 19 if the bore and crown are good.
I think every gunny needs a good working revolver....and if you do keep one, keep the Model 19 so you can load up with either .357 Magnum or .38 Special rounds....variety is the spice of life.

I teethed on wheelies and so could not imagine moving on any of mine - at least for sure not the S&W beauties.
I sure would tho be inclined to keep that M19 - you might change your mind later on ![]()

BTW for those interested, here's a picture of the two revolvers in question (the black one being the M19):
http://www.shadowflareindustries.com.../revolvers.jpg I'm taking the guns into a shop today after work; I might just trade in the .38 towards a P22. The M19 can stay for now. :) Last edited by General Geoff; September 30th, 2006 at 02:24 PM.. |

I'd keep them if I were you. |

So I bought a P22, didn't trade either of em in. My roommate is still interested in the .357 though, and even if I really aught to keep it, he will take much better care of it and make much more use of it than I will. :)

I traded off a S&W Model 19 many years ago and have kicked myself ever since. They are great weapons.

Only you can make the decision of selling, I wouldn't, I regret giving up every gun I no longer have. But then I am a gun fanatic and would like to own as many as possible.

I'd keep em' unless you need to sell. They are great keep sakes and dependable firearms.

I agree with what others have said here...maybe not right away, but if you do trade or sell them, you will regret it later on. Just my $0.02 worth.
