Danger in "Largest mass murder"

Its already evident people are going to want to top the number 32 to claim fame for the largest mass murder. Every news report they say "it the largest so far" just inviting nutjobs to top the record. Now they have a meth head on the loose in California claiming hes going to kill over 100 people ALREADY.. Look at the coverage this shooting is getting. What a way for a nutjob to get noticed. Its a sad world.....

Of course, this is not the largest mass murder in the US. It is not even the largest mass murder at a school. It is the largest mass murder at a school by shooting.

I think that the records for anyone interested are as follows:

Andrew Kehoe; Bath, Michigan, blew up school, killing 45 (mostly children) 1927.

Julio González, arsonist at Happy Land Social Club in the Bronx, NY, March 1990. 87 people were killed.

We can hope that these idiots who make threats will be stopped before they break any records at all.

I was really hoping they wouldn't air his video or show those pictures he sent. Oh well.

We know what the guy did. I don't want him to get his "glory" and have other nuts think they can have the same.

I strike this person's name and face from my memory. He is "the VT killer" and nothing more. I will instead fill that void with the faces and names of his victims.

I thought the largest Mass Murder was when a group of terrorists flew hijacked airliners into the World Trade Center.

I am guessing media means with firearms ;planes don't count?
How many lives were lost from the clean up of World Trade Center?
I wonder if the powers to be are counting that too?

I am VERY proud to be able to say that I have not seen the videos. Nor do I intend to.

The media rushed to get the videos on the air. Why? For ratings.

Why would this help their ratings?

Because our sick world wants to see this kind of stuff.

I have talked to many people who saw the videos and some of them were saying "I can't believe they put that stuff on the air".

But they still watched it.

What did we learn from the videos? Nothing we didn't already know.

Some have said that viewing the videos could give us clues to help identify future killers. I don't buy that. Apparently, his videos contained over the edge rantings. Those actions only came out when he was ready to commit his attrocities.

Besides, he exhibited so much wacko behavior over the years that people knew about him well in advance.

I could see studying surveillance videos if they existed. I know it sounds morbid, but I think we could learn from observing the actions (or lack thereof) of the victims. Maybe insight could be gained into the best tactics for surviving future attacks. . . and believe me, they will come.
