I usually ignore the opinion part of the article and go straight to the chart where they show groupings and other such "un-spinnable" stuff. It's pretty hard without blatantly lying to spin the results of a ransom rest.

In most, but not all, cases - the gun revlewer is not likely to give a poor review of an advertizers product. Like others have said, I like Concealed Carry's reviews.

I don't read the gun mags for the reviews. I just like to see what people are putting out on the market, I like the pictures, and some of the regular articles are great. I'd hate to miss Gun Crank for a month.

I used to read "gun tests." I liked the concept that they just buy it off the shelf and then tests the gear as any end user would. I was always skeptical of gear that the company sends to the "gun mag" writers because the company can pick the best and not really the pick gear at random and thus have a typical representative of their product.

I always look forward to the armed forces journal shootout where they feature products in all its glory or ugliness or failure. The videos that they produced are also pretty cool.

ultimately, it is caveat emptor.

I read a recent article by Duane Thomas in Gun World in which he reviewed the retro S&W Model 22 .45 ACP revolver. He pointed out both the flaws and the good stuff.

Handgun Tests was a very irreverent, funny magazine. They were brutally honest.

Unfortunately there is no honest gun rag . All have an agenda most for advertisers others for other reasons , Handgun tests got caught out on a test favoring the Kahr pm 9 over Chris's Rorbaugh they basicly printed ******** , and then would not support what they printed . It was sad imo really since all they had to do is report that the gun works but costs too much to be a value . instead they chose to lie about the gun . Poblem is tha the same gun ( by serial no ) had been sent to other testers , and no one could back up the bs they printed . Oh and btw it also put to rest thier claim of " we dont take factory shill guns we buy them and test them " . all in all they lost all credibility .

The only gun mags i read are tactical ones and defensive ones and they have some great stories in them and pictures of guns and I feel the reviews are fair in some aspects. But its a business of making money and so they have to pick and choose who's going to pay the bills.

I've read several articles that said guns that were being reviewed had lousy performace. I won't mention the gun due to that may not be allowed on the form. I find that all the articles are not all in favor of the gun being reviewed.
