I am looking for a "cheap" full-size pistol. I won't be in the market for it for another two months, but I figured I would ask you guys which pistols, if any, I should look for.
The requirements: - Full or midsize - Revolver or Semi - Any caliber that could take on coyotes (I guess that would be 9mm on up... I am leaning towards .45 if at all possible) - Must be under $400 (New or used) - Must have plenty of holster options I think thats about it. I know it is a very broad range of what I want... On everything but the price. This pistol is going to be used for open carry while working on farms, so it gives you an idea of my needs. Thanks in advance, guys (and gals)

Ruger are a good choice in that range. Perhaps you can find a used Glock in that range.

I'd go with a Taurus/Rossi .357 revolver in 4".
Inexpensive, warrantied, and more powerful than a .45. I've had zero problems with my Rossi 971 after 2000 rounds of full-power 158gr and 125gr .357 loads. I've had 2 "misfires," and it was the ammo (100% certainty... primer was struck, but no bang.) Every once in a while, they get a bad egg, and have to send one of these revolvers back... but they're sorta like they "hyundai" of the gun world... actually pretty reliable and heavily warrantied, but no one wants to admit they have one. |

If I were to want a hunting semiauto I would go with an EAA Witness 10 mm, hands down. Wish I had the dough for one at the moment. The steel-framed versions are right at the $400 mark, but I know of a guy who is selling some polymer ones for $309. I could get you his contact info if you send me a PM.
The Witness Hunter is another viable option: ![]()

I just purchased a S&W M&P9 for 400.00 and I really like it.
Google search Buds Guns.

I think Ruger's are available new for that price. If so, I'd go with those. 9mm Glocks are usually available to LE for just under $400, not including applicable dros, taxes, etc.

Rock Island armory 1911A1 or tactical in .45acp. Both can be had for $400 new and are arguably the best gun buy for the money of all the 1911 clones.I bought one and can tell you first hand they are well built, reliable, accurate and FUN!!! Chuck.

Have you thought about the Beretta 8000 "Cougar"?
I have one and its really a nice firearm. Completely made in Italy too. Mine in is 9mm and it about as accurate as a 9mm Carbine! Also has a chrome lined bore and chamber for any dirt and grim you get in it. Hi cap mags and holsters are cheap and easy ti find. I know some LEO dept. even carry them. ![]() ![]()
