XS Big Dot Sight Review Part 1.

I recently received my XS Big Dots in the mail, Lima was able to mount the rear on Thursday. I got the front sight mounted today and went to the range.

This is my second target with the dots, the manufacturer states that you pretty much just "Dot the I" but it's not quite that easy, there is a little fine tuning of sight alignment that needs to be done, so the first target was a test run, once I figured out how they need to line up the results were favorable.

I only shot at distances of 7-10 yards for part 1, unfortunately by the end of the first 70 rounds the rear sight was coming loose, I don't think Lima used the thread lock compound that came with the sights, but that will soon be taken care of.

As you can see from the picture above, they work pretty well.

They align very quickly on the follow up shots.

Once I get the threads Loctited down I'll go out to further distances and see how they fare.

The only problem I have is that the Big Dot is taller than the factory sight and my OWB belt holster's sight channel is too shallow, but I think I can manage to make it deeper.

good shooting i never locktite the sights till i sight them in

I wouldnt mind trying a set of them

If you shoot at night, how would you dot the I? My thought is that when only the tritium shows, you might shoot low dotting the i without the white paint. Thoughts from you or Lima on that.

The leg of the "I" is also tritium. It basicly lines up like straight eights.

I haven't tried mine in low light yet... but so far with 500 rounds as of this weekend, I Love Them!

Yes, like JD said, I takes a short time to get used to them, but after that they are great. I only shot out to 12 yards so far.

More than likely will put them on my G-23 eventually as well.

For my 1911's I'll probably eventually put on some 2 color contrasting tritium 3 dots for more precision shooting with them.

But for now... the XS Big Dot Tritium Rock! I'm glad I got them on the XDsc

I''ve got 2 holsters ordered for my XD40SC. I'd like to have the Big Dots. Whats the odds of the Big Dots not working with the holsters?

What kind of holsters and who did you order them from?

I don't think the standard sized dots will give you a problem, the Big Dots might, best course of action is to contact the manufacturer of the holster and ask them for their input.

Darn. Just as I have been super happy with the TruGlo TFO's, I am now thinking about the big dots.

Recommend going with the standard dots. Just as fast to line up and no holster issues ever. Dot the i in the dakr or light. I've got nothing but XS Sights 24/7 Standard Dot on all my guns... That includes my REmington 870 and my lever action 30-30.
