Nope, the one in the picture has an external hammer, the 03 hammer is inside the slide. The 1903 is one fine little pistol though, there is a nice one in .32 I've gotten to shoot.
My vote is also for the 1905.

Interesting, does seem to be the murder weapon(or most likely anyway). 1905 , I would guess as well.

The shape of the grips seems to indicate that the pistol is a 1903. The rounded bottom of the grip looks more like a 1903. The 1905 grip looks more squared at the base like a 1911.

The 1905 was made in .45.... The original post indicated it is a .38, as does the rounds in the picture...
I believe buckeye07 is thinking of the Colt Model 1903 Hammerless.... This appears to be the Colt 1903 pocket hammer made by Browning Last edited by flmitchell; June 17th, 2007 at 07:24 PM. |

The gun in Miggy's post looks identical to the gun in question to me and that is in fact the 1903 Colt Pocket. And I believe flmitchell is correct.
Miggy's photo comes from "Collectors Firearms" website http://www.collectorsfirearms.com/ad...php?itemID=370 And Sig's opinion that they have displayed the "murder weapon" as a reminder to other officers to properly search their suspects is probably correct. Just my opinion.

Yeah, I did have it confused with the hammerless.

Gents,
I talked to the police chief today and did confirm that the gun pictured is indeed the killer's pistol. Beyond that he didn't know much. He did, however, direct me to a gent who was on the force at that time and informed me that the man loves to talk. I will stop by and see him if I get a chance and get the skinny on why it's framed with the officer's photo and badge. Josh <><
