I also believe that you can't clear a weapon too many times.... If they had cleared the weapon before, and you didn't see it, and ask them to do it again, people shouldn't take offense to that.
It only takes a moment to do a chamber check and if that's what it takes to alleviate someones concerns, I should think no should be offended by that request. JMHO

Anyone who owns a black rifle would be wise to pick up a few of the yellow plastic chamber flags. It's a plastic flag that extends down into the chamber, then the bolt is closed on it, retaining it. It positively shows that the weapon is clear.
