Lima, it seems you like it! (Understatement of the week.)

That poor guy just doesn't realize that be the time he gets it back at the end of the week it will be a "smooth bore"!

This is a very VERY common problem. Our shop has had them on order for MONTHS. Springfield is trying to churn them out, but demand is demand. Hopefully we will have them soon and good luck finding one!

I was reluctant about the EMP myself because it was a 1911 in 9mm. My experience has been that if it wasn't in .45 the 1911 starts to complain a bit and they are more prone to problems.

The 1911 was made for the .45. It doesn't like being cheaply modified to shoot other rounds.

What made me look favorably toward the EMP was the fact that Springfield put A LOT of care and consideration and time into completely redesigning the 1911 around the 9mm cartridge. All reports I've read have sung its (and Springfield's) praises for a job beautifully done in making a 1911 that was made for the 9mm.

I'm also saying, "Springfield, WAY TO GO!!"

As far as price, they are definitely over a grand. I haven't seen one on sale, ever, so I've never seen a price tag on one. This EMP was the only one I've ever seen in person and I didn't even bother to ask the guy what he paid for it.

LOL.. probably. I've got to get all the rounds I can through it. I need to make sure I've fully estimated its possibilities. This is a chance of a decade almost.

Again, eventually I DO want one, but not now, for the reasons I listed in the first post. Parts will be difficult to come by, it's very pricey, and new. In a few months to a year people will start catching up, provided the EMP remains as popular as it is at this time.

I'm going to pick up my .45 from the gunsmith right now. The new safety and slim line grips have been fitted and I'm going to shoot them side by side and see what I like better. After all, the 9mm was my second choice for another shooter. I'll right my range report about that later tonight.

Great thread (as usual) limatunes.

Yes folks (to all who might see this) and have questions.
This thread has been cleaned up of anything "off topic" including one post from a moderator - plus one post of mine...even.

And the first photograph was switched out for a smaller photo because it was throwing the forum page width off as it was too large.

And by tomorrow even this comment of mine will be removed by me.
Please do not respond to this publicly in this thread or that will be deleted also.

PLEASE Keep this thread On Topic to the Springfield EMP or anything related to lima's experience with that firearm.

Thanks!

There's one in a local shop NIB for under a grand. I handled it and I like it. I need another carry gun like I needed more rash after two years in the jungle.
The EMP is slimmer and smaller than expected but felt good. It will make a fine carry piece.
I may need to buy it.

Seven Yards...

Ten yards...

Seven Yards again...

I shoot just as well with the CDP .45 as I do with the EMP 9mm. The 9mm certainly didn't have the recoil the .45 did, but that's to be expected.

All in all it was a good shooter.

Lima, can you post a side by side of the EMP with your Bersa and a full size 1911?

I'm sure many here would be interested to see the comparative size.

Oh, hey, that's a good idea! I'll have to do it tomorrow. I let the EMP locked up at the shop, but I have to work tomorrow so I'll take my bersa and the camera as well as the CDP and take pictures for everyone.

Thanks for the idea!

Anyone else want some specific pictures.. this is Lima, taking requests!

If you're doing it at the range then maybe use a better known gun than the Bersa.

I'm guessing more people are familiar with a snubbie, a Glock 19 and a full size 1911. Maybe throw a few rounds of 9mm and .45 into the picture too?

Thanks.

How about a Sig 232 or a Walther PPK?? I could throw a Glock 17 in there for comparison, or maybe a S&W 642.

It's a gun shop. I have guns abounding to compare to.
