Lima's getting ready for work, ejector is nice and tight, and foillowing the instructions that 10 Ring provided, I retentioned the extractor and it now meets the test and QK's guide lines.

We'll see how it fares.

Couple of thoughts- you're using a micro-pistol, and regardless of caliber, the timing with them can get a bit funky. Given the variability of WWB loads, they could be either too light or heavy. My inclination would be that they are running hot, and bottoming your slide out, so that it retains maybe a bit more force in return, than with a standard load. IOW, its sped up too much for full extraction (and/or your extractor needs some tweaking), but the springs are strong enough to slam the action shut despite being retarded by the hanging brass (and incidentally probably using the next round to finish the extraction process). The danger being, as your springs get worn in, you could conceivably get an out-of-battery discharge, depending on your pistol's tolerances.

I have not used these, but a couple of friends, whose opinions I value, say they are the shizzit in 1911 extractor. Pricey, but if you figure time and cost in having a smith tune yours.... I much prefer the external extractor, and this is as close as the standard 1911 can come.

The Aftec Extractor

That is a really neat item.
I just fit my second one.
It is not a drop in part. Fitting it is not super difficult though. It's pretty basic.
The Aftec extractor is unusual in that it pivots on the firing pin stop.
SO....it is necessary to start with a fairly tight fitting aftermarket firing pin stop to begin the fitting process.
Then you need to add a bevel to both sides of the lower right hand edge of the firing pin stop that lay underneath the extractor heel. That allows the extractor to pivot.
The Aftec extractor head grabs the cartridge case kinda differently.
It's also slightly frustrating getting it into the hole in the slide the first couple of times until you get the hang of it.
The extractor itself is incredibly well engineered but, it is expensive at $65.00 - that's a lot to pay for an extractor but, they do work very well and eliminate a lot of extraction problems.

Really though a properly tuned and tensioned extractor will usually do the trick just fine.

It's amazing how many pistols by many makers leave the factory with untuned & improperly tensioned extractors.
It's so absolutely critical to proper pistol functioning.
That's TERRIBLE for gun makers not to take the extra 10 or 15 stinking minutes to properly fit the extractor.

This thread has been GREAT! I had the same problem with about half the rounds my old RIA ejected and it makes total sense. Thanks.

See, folks ... every problem you post or answer could help someone who has a similar problem but didn't think to post it themselves.

Okay, I confess. I lied (unintentionally so it's okay). There are brass marks on my ejection port. I just couldn't see them in the poor lighting of our apartment. I took the gun to work and under the spot lights they showed up like crazy.

I got a good light and took a good picture.

Here are the marks...

A guy at work said that if I got an extended ejector that would cure the problem. Good advice?

No because the gun all ready has a extended ejector and it doesn't look broke..

More than likely it was the loose extractor doing this ..

Order up a Cylinder and slide Extractoras im betting the factory one wont hold its tension very long.. Not sure if its MIM or not but i know on springfields they don't hold after you tweak them

Also Limpwristing will cause this problem ..

Agreed. Also, if the extractor is turned in the slide it will cause this.

Ditto Bud: that your ejector is already an extended ejector.
I'll bet that the adjustment done concerning increasing the extractor tension will cure the problem.
See if that works before you do anything else.

As has been mentioned, timing is critical on the micro 1911s, I would replace the springs with a Wolff Service Pack II, it includes the heavier magazine spring also.
