Glock 3.5 lbs, and NY1 Trigger, Great Setup

For a long time used the stock 5 lbs with a NY1. Today I had a chance to try out the 3.5 with NY1 combination. Wow what a difference. My shot grouping was much tighter, and less finger/hand/arm fatigue.

I also switched my sights out for XS standard dot. Once I get accustomed to the new sights, I think my grouping will get even better.

I used to use that same set up myself on my Glock 19.

I went back to the NY1 and "Stock" Connector after learning the finer points of trigger control, wanting my Glock to more closely resemble my Revolver Triggers and the fact that Glock only sells the 3.5 Connector for "Range and Competition" use.

I didn't think the "Range and Competition" use would look too good in court if any shooting I was involved in was questioned or when I was sued by the recipient of my bullets or his/her family.

If it was for IDPA/IPSC only and not carry use I would use that trigger combo 24/7 because it's a great setup.

Actually, a Glock with a 3.5 lb connector and the New York trigger spring has about the same trigger pull weight as the standard Glock trigger. Putting a 3.5 lb connector in a Glock with the regular trigger will lighten the trigger pull to 3.5 lbs. Putting a New York trigger spring in a Glock with the regular connector will result in about an 8 lb trigger pull. Putting in both puts you right back where you started. To me, this begs the question of why go to all that trouble, but it's hardly unsafe.

More than one PD uses this setup. So I am not all that concerned about the legality.

I like the more constant resistance the NY1 provides. Instead of the light take up then more resistance of the stock trigger.

I too like the set up, I have just chosen not to use it for "possible" legal ramifications.

To each their own I say. By the way, what L.E. Agencies are using that set up? I'm just curious. If I find enough documentation I may go back to that set up, because I do like it.

I can't find the book that I got the info from. It was either Sweeney or Ayoob. In either case the book would have been published around 2002. So by now they could be using a different setup.

I just got a Ghost Ultimate 3.5 connector and put it in one of my glocks for testing. it seems okay dry firing but I'll have to hit an IDPA match to see for sure. And they say that it can be used for all purposes, not just competition and target shooting like the Glock 3.5. If it works out I might try it on the other two.
