The only serious response I've seen. There are matters of feeling, and matters of reality. If you keep your weapons for defense of self and property, FknRa's answer is the correct, sensible answer.

I quit the "hobby buying" several years ago. We will see GB-style legislation eventually (I feel sooner rather than later), and in that context, it makes no sense to have a box of useless "toys", when you could have a useful battery, particularly given the violent nature of both our criminals, and some Responders, in times of crisis.

How many is enough?

Wrong question!

The question should be 'What is the MINIMUM number you should own?'

The way I see it.....everybody should have at least:

CCW handgun- can be revolver or semi-auto (9mm or higher)
small caliber pistol- like a .22lr revolver, for plinking or hunting small game
(optional) large caliber handgun- for hunting larger game, could even be scoped
small caliber rifle-.22lr for plinking, rabbits & such (optional calibers like .17HMR, .22magnum acceptable)
large caliber rifle- .243 & up qualifies, for hunting large game at distance (bolt-gun acceptable, as are lever guns)
Shotgun- anything in 12ga., can be pump, auto, side by side, over under or even a single barrel, for hunting birds or defense
SHTF gun- AKs, ARs, pretty much any semi auto from 5.56mm & up

At the VERY least everybody should have a SHTF rifle, large caliber pistol & a shotgun!
