How about one like this
Taken from the The M1911 Pistols Forum Used to have plans for it but can not find it opr the link. it is pretty self explanatory from the pic. Works good is portable and take less than thirty minutes to make. The target stand consists of 7 pieces of 1 1/2 inch, schedule 40 PVC pipe. Each piece is 16 inches long, and they can all be made from one 10 foot section of 1 1/2 inch, schedule 40 PVC pipe. Also needed are: 2 - Tees. 2 - 90 degree elbows. 2 - Caps. Five pieces are glued together as in the pic. The 2 upright pieces are not glued, but just slipped-fitted into the Tees to hold the wooden stakes. |

So many good lookin target stands ... so little storage space. I'll start with one or two of the pcv models cuz they can easily be modular.
Thanks for your help.

Hope they work out for you. I was gonna mention I live just down the road from your new place. Check to be sure but I think the Olympic National Park is a no shoot area. I think it is OK on state lands but for some reason I was thinking National Parks are off limits

This is a picture of my pistol range that I built on 40 acres we bought a couple years ago.
![]() I use a combination of steel swingers on portable stands from Arntzen Targets and IDPA stands that I welded up. The welded stands are nice, but to tell you the truth the wooden ones or the PVC types do the same job cheaper and easier. I'm going to make some of the wooden ones to augment what I have, some of the more creative scenarios are target intensive. I would get my hands on a couple IDPA cardboard silhouettes and some 1x2 firring strips just to figure out your stand spacing, Chuck

the possibilities look endless. my hat's off to those who live in areas that can actually use these things.

Wizard of Gores Idea
Is the Best; I know this because we have been using that exact design target stand for the past 15 years in some of the clubs I have belonged to. Use 3" decking screws to fasten the ends together, at Home Depot they are cheap, you can buy them by the pound. the one modification that I found quadruples the life of the target stand for a few extra pennies is to take a piece of lath you would use to staple the target to and cut off 2 pieces equal to the width of the 2x4; Then take those pieces and push them into the slot where you would put your lath pieces, scooting them inward to allow for your target stakes to slide in. Be sure to leave a little space, so the target lath pieces can be pushed in and pulled out with little effort. Now that you have your short pieces in place, drive 2 more deck screws through each lath piece.
This will increase the strength of the stand tremendously, by providing perpendicular support and by removing virtually all of the play that will develop in the stand as they are moved, set up and jostled around. believe me, a few minutes extra effort on this will yield great results. the other thing I did was to get a can of Linseed oil and coat the stands liberally. Linseed oil is relatively cheap, and it will waterproof the wood forever in case you are caught in the rain. Just some tips......

I want a berm like that with only have five aces. Not big enough to shoot safely, without a high berm. Well one spot that I use over a cliff and into a empty hillside but I can only do single target stationary shooting. Bugs my neighbor though he knows and agrees it safe. Found a sweet spot ten minutes away though. Like what your pic showed but horseshoe shapped so I can set up targets 180 degrees. Thats fun.
