I compared the two at a gunshop side by side before I bought my GI Springer last week. Not to knock RIA's or anything, because they are great value priced 1911's, but you can tell where the extra $$$ is going with the Springer. It just seems machined a little nicer, plus I have heard nothing but praises for SA's customer service and to me that was worth the extra $$$. BTW, I love your avatar, fellow Ducatista.
