RIA .45 or Springfileld Armory .45 1911

I have a chance to get a RIA .45 1911 for $383.01 OTD or Springfield GI Mil-Spec(Not G.I.) for $485.00 OTD what would you do? Both from what I've read both are great starter 1911 modlels any help?

Either one sounds like a good deal and will get you started on the road to 1911 nirvana. I have personally owned the SA guns and they do not dissapoint, great customer service as well.

Haven't had much to do with the RIA, but I have two Springers, and will never trade them. I guess that is a vote for the Springfield!

I would go with the RIA, then save your money for a Loaded Springfield.

Rock Islands have a cast frame, Springers are forged, FWIW. Castings can be good, but personally I would prefer a forged frame.

I have 2 RIAs and 1 Springer. I carry my RIA GI every day. It is a great weapon, very reliable and was under $400.00 otd.
